November Construction Falls 8% Nationwide

New construction starts tumbled 8% in November to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $522.8 billion, according to McGraw-Hill Construction, a division of The McGraw-Hill Cos. The continuing slide for residential building was joined by a weak performance in November for nonresidential building, which was only partially offset by improved activity for public works. Through the first 11 months of 2007, total construction on an unadjusted basis came in at $573.4 billion, down 10% from the same period a year ago. Full
