HCC Presents Annual Industry Awards

Federico Pena and Theresa Pena were honored by the Hispanic Contractors of Colorado with the organization’s major awards for Political Achievement and Community Advocacy, respectively, during the 18th Annual Awards Banquet on March 1.

The Hispanic Contractors of Colorado gathered at the Arvada Center for the Arts & Humanities to honor its major award winners, announce the members of the year and the director of the year at the 18th Annual Awards Banquet on March 1.

The organization presented the following major awards:

• Political Achievement
Federico Pena, former Denver Mayor, U.S. Secretary of Transportation and U.S. Secretary of Energy.

• Community Advocate
Theresa Pena, chair of the Denver Public Schools Board of Education, in recognition of her leadership, which provided economic opportunities to diverse businesses in professional services and construction in excess of $69 million over three years during the last general obligation bond.

In addition, company-level award winners were selected for their volunteer and community-service efforts, employee development, participation in organizations and associations, mentoring and for living the HCC mission of “Building a United Community…Committed to Business Growth.”

The winners were:

• General Contractor of the Year – Hensel Phelps Construction
• Subcontractor of the Year – St. Andrews Construction Services
• Emerging Business of the Year – All Tech Janitorial
• Service Company of the Year – Pinnacol Assurance
• Supplier of the Year – Sprint Nextel

Also recognized were:

• Board Member of the Year – José Amaya, J.E. Dunn Construction
• Committee Chair of the Year – Travis Martinez, White Construction Group
• Volunteer of the Year – Alejandra Spray, AMI Mechanical
• 10-Year Members – Ludvik Electric, PCL Construction Services and Swinerton Builders

Recognized for safety:

• Large General Contractor – Roche Constructors
• Small General Contractor – White Construction Group
• Large Subcontractor – Greiner Electric
• Small Subcontractor – St. Andrews Construction Services
