The Copper Mountain Fire Station is set to begin construction in May with a completion date set for May 2009. The Copper Mountain Consolidated Metropolitan District awarded the bid contract to White Construction Group of Castle Rock.
The Copper Mountain Fire Station is a 28,020-sq-ft facility designed to provide space for fire, cable television, water, sanitation and administrative services provided by the district. The fire station aspect of the building features a four-bay apparatus area; shift quarters and facilities for 24/7 firefighters and ambulance personnel; operational offices; storage and equipment facilities; and common use areas, including a physical fitness facility.
The building also features administrative offices for all district services; a full-service community room; a new head-end facility for cable television; accessory storage; and operational facilities to meet the needs of the Copper Mountain community.
Pahl Architecture of Denver matched the architectural vocabulary with nearby buildings in the mountain resort community. The District Board of Directors and the community's Design Advisory Committee approved the project design, subject to intensive community input, in 2006.
The project is moving forward in collaborative efforts with Intrawest and Copper Mountain Inc.
