Four major development projects planned and designed by Denver architectural firm RNL in the United Arab Emirates region were showcased May 13 to 15 at the Cityscape Abu Dhabi 2008 event at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The projects were launched for public display utilizing large 3D models and computer-generated film for the high-profile event in Abu Dhabi, which attracts international property developers, city and regional authorities, consultants, financiers, architects, urban planners, consulting engineers, major contractors and others to network on major projects.

RNL’s showcased projects included the Ghantoot Development Master Plan, the Lu’Luat Al Raha Master Plan, Al Ghadeer master plan and Shams Abu Dhabi. These projects represent more than 15 million sq mtrs of land development for communities ranging in size from 8,000 residents to over 100,000 residents and a collective total built-up area of more than 193 million sq ft.

“This event represents a major milestone in RNL’s presence in and commitment to the UAE region,” said Patrick M. McKelvey, senior principal for RNL. “We have been planning and designing major developments here in the UAE, with special emphasis in Abu Dhabi, since our first efforts with the Burj Dubai Master Plan in 2002. Our emphasis has been on assisting our clients to create high-quality developments within the very real constraints of the financial aspects, market conditions, physical space and schedule realities.”

RNL’s projects exhibited at the international event included four major developments, each planned as sustainable communities where residents will live, work, and play within a balanced, mixed-use pedestrian-friendly environment.

Don Ryan, associate and senior urban designer at RNL, is the project manager.

Cityscape Abu Dhabi 2008, now in its second year, is an annual international real estate investment and development event and exhibition focusing on all aspects of the property development cycle with two parallel conferences.
