In a 2-1 decision, the Colorado Court of Appeals ruled that people who sign bad checks are at risk. The court held that when a corporation’s check bounced, the company officer who signed the check was personally liable for the statutory penalty at three times the amount of the bounced check, plus the payee’s attorneys’ fees.
