Here is a sampling of high-profile downtown Denver projects currently under construction or recently completed and not covered elsewhere in this issue.

Lower Downtown

Complete: Dec. 2008

This new office building in LoDo includes 113,000 rentable sq ft. Design and construction followed LEED requirements for green buildings, including energy conservation to achieve LEED Gold certification.

1800 Larimer
Downtown
$100 million
Owner: Westfield Development
Contractor: Mortenson Construction
Architect: RNL
Complete: Spring 2010

This 22-story, mixed-use tower at 18th and Larimer streets will be one of the largest high-rise office buildings built in downtown Denver in the last 20 years. When complete, it will offer state-of-the-art, Class AA lease office space designed to be the first LEED-Platinum office building in Denver.

  • Renovations at the Denver retail center on the 16th Street Mall include new energy-efficient escalators; Glenarm Street improvements for valet service, enhanced customer entrances and a pedestrian crosswalk; LED signs installed along 16th Street; elevator upgrades; courtyard improvements and a new paver surface throughout the first level; new landscape treatments on all three levels; clear signage.

    Four Seasons Hotel

    Complete: July 2010

    The 45-story, hotel and residence tower will house 230 hotel rooms on the first 16 floors and 102 private residences, ranging from 964 to 4,100 sq ft, from the 18th floor up. When complete, it will become the fourth-tallest building in the city.

    Union Station Redevelopment
    $500 million
    Owner: The Union Station Neighborhood Co.
    Contractor: TBD
    Architects: Anderson Mason Dale, Semple Brown Design

    The Union Station Neighborhood Co. recently selected the architectural team for the first two new buildings in the Union Station development. The $500-million transit construction project is expected to begin this summer, and design work on the two new buildings will parallel the start of design for approximately 10 acres of new public parks and plazas within the project.
