Engineers
The following engineers at Martin/Martin Inc. Consulting Engineers of Lakewood recently received LEED accreditation from the U.S. Green Building Council. Structural Department engineers include Charles Keyes, Michael Goldstein, Gregory Gillmor, Nicole Lane, Eric Sobel, Brian Tinkey and Jonathan Oltman. Civil Department engineers are William Raatz and Kristina Stoll.
Jim Lazzeri, a mechanical principal at Cator, Ruma & Associates, recently toured Vietnam with Research Exchange International. The purpose of the trip was to share knowledge of health care design with university students and faculty. This included HVAC system design for infection control.
Peter LeMessurier has joined Beaudin Ganze Consulting Engineers Denver office as a lead mechanical engineer, energy engineer and project manager. He has more than 20 years experience providing energy-efficient MEP design, direct-digital controls design and construction services. Primarily working in a design-build format for mechanical and electrical contractors, he has completed new and retrofit projects ranging from hospitality and higher education, to highrises and health care.
The American Council of Engineering Cos. of Colorado recently announced its 2009–10 board officers. Robert Refvem, Felsburg Holt & Ullevig, was elected president; William Hoffmann, CTL/Thompson, will serve as vice president; and Eric Young, EMC Engineers Inc. will serve as secretary/treasurer.
Four new board directors were also elected: Roger Barker, Kumar & Associates, Inc.; Peter Monroe, Monroe & Newell Engineers Inc.; Greg Sekera, Kennedy/Jenks Consultants; and Janet Williams, Leonard Rice Engineers Inc.
Architects
Bobby Long has joined professional consulting services firm Short Elliott Hendrickson Inc.’s Denver office as a senior architectural project manager in the Architecture Group. With nearly 20 years experience in architecture with an emphasis on mixed-use and multifamily development, Long has created innovative designs for projects across the country. As a LEED-accredited professional, he regularly uses sustainability principles in his design.
Denver-based Slaterpaull Architects added three staff members: Zay Pribble, marketing manager; Len Segel, architect; and Zoey Chance, sustainable design manager. Chance’s newly created role will facilitate sustainable design and help to incorporate LEED and other green-building rating systems throughout the design and construction process.
Rachel Gerhart, business manager for MOA Architecture, was elected to the board of the Denver chapter of the Society of Design Administrators. On May 27, Gerhart was installed as treasurer and will serve a one-year term.
Jessie Johnson of DLR Group has received her architectural license and also passed the LEED AP exam. Johnson joined the firm’s Denver office earlier this year as an associate/ architectural designer after transferring from the firm’s Seattle office. She has worked as a designer, architectural lead and project manager for a variety of clients, with an emphasis on office, mixed-use and hospitality projects.
Denver architect Paul Hutton was recently selected as one of the chairs of the American Institute of Architect’s National Committee on Architecture for Education. In particular, Hutton will chair the pre-K–12 portion of the committee, working with other CAE members to develop and implement ways to educate the public about the value of quality education design.
Hutton Architecture Studio of Denver has designed more than 100 school facilities totaling over $400 million in construction. It also serves as a resource to educational providers throughout Colorado, including access to the latest information and research.
