AIA Denver Names Design Winners/ACI Conference Comes to Denver/2007 International Roofing Expo Registration Open
Dennis Humphries of Humphries Poli Architects PC, RNL's Tania Salgado and Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper were among the honorees at AIA Denver's 2006 design awards gala in September. Humphries was named Architect of the Year; Salgado was named Young Architect of the Year; and Hickenlooper was given the award for Contribution to the Built Environment by a Non-Architect.
The American Institute of Architects' Denver Chapter announced
its 2006 architectural design awards recipients earlier this
month during its annual gala at the Belmar Center in Lakewood.
The guest jury chair for the design awards was Kevin Daily,
AIA, from Daly Genik Architects in Santa Monica, Calif. The
jury judged 81 award submittals. The following projects and
architecture firms were recognized with merit and honor design
awards:

ACI Rocky Mountain to
Host National Convention
The Rocky Mountain Chapter of the American Concrete Institute
will host the association's annual convention Nov. 5 - 9
in Denver.
The event - "COLORado Concrete" - will highlight
the versatility and value of decorative and architectural
concrete, as well as the importance of concrete as a green
and sustainable construction material.
The convention will feature more than 200 meetings, 32 technical
sessions and more than 30 exhibitors, with an expected 1,400
attendees. Other highlights will include a reception honoring
James Pierce, an ACI Fellow, past president and noted expert
in the field of concrete; a symposium highlighting applications
of fiber-reinforced concrete; a session on "green"
concrete in construction; and a mixer exploring the tastes,
textures and seasons of Colorado.

Roofing Expo
Online registration is now open at www.TheRoofingExpo.com
for the 2007 International Roofing Expo, set for March 6-8
at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, with attendees
who register before Jan. 22 receiving "early bird"
rates.
Conference sessions are ticketed events, and seating is
limited, so early registration is encouraged to ensure access
to preferred classes. A variety of registration packages
are available for participants who want to attend a single
day or the entire three days of the event.
The International Roofing Expo is open to any professional
actively involved in the roofing industry. The show's official
sponsor is the National Roofing Contractors Association.
