CSI Releases MasterFormat 2004

The Construction Specifications Institute released its 2004 edition of MasterFormat in late November, marking the most significant upgrade in the standard's 40-year history.

As the "Dewey Decimal System" for project information, MasterFormat is a master list of titles and numbers for organizing data about construction requirements, products and activities. It's used on more than 70 percent of the commercial and institutional building projects in the U.S. and Canada.

Changes in the new MasterFormat reflect the rapid growth in the amount and complexity of construction information generated for today's increasingly complex buildings since it was last updated in 1995.

MasterFormat 2004 is published by McGraw-Hill Construction. For more information, visit the Web site at www.csinet.org/masterformat/ or call 800-689-2900.

Historical Preservation Group Honors Pinkard Construction

Pinkard Construction has received the Historical Preservation Alliance of Colorado Springs' Award of Excellence for its work on the Lennox House at Colorado College.

Pinkard worked with the college and its architect to upgrade life safety systems that bring the building up to code while maintaining its historical integrity. Lennox House - which has served for many years as a coed dormitory - was built in 1900 by Colorado Springs businessman and Cripple Creek investor William Lennox, who served on the school's board of trustees from 1901 until his death in 1936.

Colorado College is at the beginning of a 10-year plan to renovate all of the dormitories on campus.
