Rampart Library District Projects Making Progress

As the CM/GC for Rampart Library District, Nunn Construction Inc. completed the Woodland Park Main Library in September and also broke ground on the 6,700-sq-ft Florissant Branch Library on Aug. 1.

The 29,000-sq-ft main library in Woodland Park will provide state-of-the-art library services and technology and community-use space. The three-story facility, composed of stone and exposed wood timber, includes a clock tower that serves as a fourth story. In addition to library functions, the building will house a local history room, a children's craft and storytelling room, meeting rooms for public use, tutoring and group study spaces and a large public meeting room. Floor-to-ceiling stone fireplaces are located in the main meeting room and in the quiet reading area.

The Florissant Library houses a large meeting room, special children's and young-adult's areas, a stone fireplace, quiet reading room and community room, similar to the interior of the Woodland Park Library. Designed to resemble an old train station, the branch library is located in Florissant Park, set against the wooded mountains.

The architect for both projects is Pinnacle DesignWorks Inc. of Woodland Park and library consultant Frye Gillian Molinaro Architects of Chicago.

Construction for the $23 million project is scheduled for completion in early 2004.
