Aspen Lodge Rec Center Construction Starts/Hyder Working on Second Breckenridge Project/Riviera Tackling Two Lowe's

The Aspen Lodge Recreation Center in Broomfield will feature a two-story vestibule/entry with porte-cochere. Bocce and tennis courts, an amphitheater and a 30-acre park will be located adjacent to the center.

BYG Launches Lincoln Park One

Denver's Buchanan Yonushewski Group launched the most ambitious project in the design-build firm's 15-year history with its late-August unveiling of the 31-story Lincoln Park One mixed-use development in downtown Denver.

The luxury high-rise project - valued at $80 to 90 million in construction cost, with a total cost closer to $140 million - will feature 186 luxury residential units, including 38 penthouses, rising above street-level retail and enclosed parking.

Lincoln Park One will also be one of the city's biggest transit-oriented developments so far. It will be located at the triangular intersection of Welton, 20th and Lincoln on the east side of owntown, directly across the street from the 20th Street light rail station.

The project developer is Erik Osborn of Osborn Development Corp., developers of the Diamond Lofts in the Ballpark neighborhood.

BYG is serving as both design architect and design-builder. James Rendon, senior project architect; and Mark Young, project architect; are leading the project. Denver's Swinerton Builders will construct the core-and-shell; BYG will handle the interior finish work.

Construction will begin early next year. With a 24-month construction schedule, the building should be complete in the first quarter of 2008.


Construction Will Begin This Fall on Laramie MOB

Drahota, along with design-build partners Vaught Frye Architects and Boulder Associates Inc., will begin construction this fall on a medical office building located at Harney Street and Television Road in Laramie, Wyo.

Owned by LPWC Holdings LLC, a consortium of local doctors, the 28,530-sq-ft facility will accommodate space for women's and children's care, specimen collection, general surgery offices, a family practice and urology facilities. The two-story building will be completed in fall 2007.


Construction Under Way on Town Green Apartments

Golden-based CFC Construction has started construction on the Town Green Apartments at Stapleton, which consist of two- and three-story buildings with 154 market-rate apartments in eight buildings.

Thomas P. Cox Architects designed the $17 million project for Forest City Development. Completion is set for July 2007.


Hyder Begins Work on New Parking Structure

Hyder Construction began work in June on the town of Breckenridge's new Exchange Parking Structure, scheduled for completion in November.

This 27,308-sq-ft, two-level garage will provide the residents of Breckenridge with 85 additional parking spaces downtown.

This parking structure is the second project Hyder will complete for Breckenridge this year. Construction of the Transit Bus Storage and Maintenance Facility is scheduled for completion this month.


White Begins Work on Projects in Littleton and Broomfield

Castle Rock-based White Construction Group has begun work on Ken Caryl Automotive in Littleton and Guaranty Bank of Broomfield.

The $2.1 million Ken Caryl project consists of two automotive retail buildings, each constructed on reinforced concrete block with an exterior of cultured stone and red-brick trim.

Commercial Building Services in Loveland is the architect; the owner is PFEOD LLC of Castle Rock.

The $223,000 Broomfield project consists of tenant improvements designed by Pahl-Pahl-Pahl PC Architects/Planners in Denver for the owner, Denver-based Guaranty Bank.


Riviera Working on Lowe's in Littleton, Longmont

Riviera Electric is handling electrical work for a new 166,000-sq-ft Lowe's Home Improvement Store, located at South Zuni Street and Belleview Avenue in Littleton, neighboring the electrical contractor's headquarters.

The company was also selected to handle site lighting installation for a Lowe's in Longmont.

EMJ Corp. is the general contractor for both projects.

In Littleton, Riviera's work on the project includes complete electrical services, an energy management system, point of sale, security and phone/data conduit installation, generator and installation of a buss duct for future power to the sales floor. A new traffic light is also planned for the intersection of Belleview Avenue and Zuni Street.

Riviera's contract is scheduled for completion in December.

In Longmont, Riviera will replace exterior lighting for the Lowe's at 355 Kan Prah Blvd. Work is set to finish in August.


Work Begins on New World Millworks Facility

Construction is under way at the site of New World Millworks' new $4.5 million manufacturing facility in Castle Rock. The 100,000-sq-ft office and manufacturing facility is located on a five-acre site on Atchison Court in the Citadel Station area.

Construction is being handled under a design-build contract by MW GOLDEN CONSTRUCTORS of Castle Rock. The design consultant is DLH Architecture, also of Castle Rock.

Bleeker & Vigesaa Completes Tenant Finish Build-Out for CDELA

Bleeker & Vigesaa LLC completed a 3,600-sq-ft tenant finish build-out in record time for the Colorado Distance and Electronic Learning Academy. The Brighton-based general contractor transformed the facility from a bare shell into occupancy-ready space in just three weeks.

The project was the latest in a long line of projects Bleeker & Vigesaa has handled for Coughlin Property Management.


Torix Remodeling Colorado Springs Country Club

Torix General Contractors is handling an $822,000 remodeling project at the Colorado Springs Country Club that focuses on three dining rooms, games rooms, the bar area and main bathrooms.

The work includes upgrading electrical and plumbing systems, replacing all doors and constructing new acoustical ceilings. The finished rooms will include wainscot paneling, crown molding, new cabinetry, ceramic tile and new carpet.


Swinerton Named Construction Manager for Watermark in Denver

Swinerton Builders is the construction manager for the Watermark, a residential project in Denver's historic Baker community.

Designed by Fentress Bradburn Architects and developed by Watermark LLC, the Watermark development features 90 condominium units - nine brownstones, eight penthouses and 73 luxury flats - with four custom-designed decor packages. The building will also include a roof-top infinity pool, fitness center and "Zen courtyard."

Construction of the project, located at Fourth Avenue and Acoma Street, is scheduled for completion by summer 2007.


CU-Boulder Begins $5.7M in Rec Improvements

Farrand Field will be closed for one year and several basketball courts and athletic fields will be installed or upgraded this summer as $5.7 million in student-funded improvements continue at the University of Colorado at Boulder campus.

Before fall classes begin later this month, crews expect to have renovated the natural turf and installed lights at Franklin Field east of Folsom Stadium, installed artificial turf and lights for three club and intramural sports fields at Kittredge Field and constructed four lighted outdoor basketball/multi-use courts on the east side of the Coors Events/Conference Center.

Farrand Field will be closed for one year after the Aug. 25 Global Jam event for major renovations. The field will be leveled, new sod and drainage systems will be installed, an 18-in.-high stone sitting wall and wrought-iron fence will be constructed around the field's perimeter, and a 50-by-30-ft permanent concrete stage will be installed on the north side of the field for concerts and other events. The field is expected to re-open in time for the 2007 fall semester.
