Salida Dedicates New Hospital/Mile Hi Church Sanctuary Complete/ Himmelman Adds to Holy Trinity Parish Hall

Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center Dedicated

Haselden Construction of Centennial, along with joint-venture partner, Salida-based Diesslin Structures, recently dedicated a new $33-million Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center in Salida. It’s the town’s first new hospital in 111 years.

The new 25-bed, 85,000-sq-ft hospital is located on a 25-acre campus on the west side of Colorado Highway 291 and replaces an aging and once-overcrowded building that the hospital has occupied since 1885. The old hospital building is historic and now up for sale.

The new facility offers 25% more space and includes a surgery suite, pharmacy, rehabilitation, family birthing center, private patient rooms, emergency department, radiology, cardiopulmonary and laboratory spaces serving the communities of the upper Arkansas Valley.

Design and construction of this project was achieved through a collaborative process involving not only the design team but also the HRRMC staff and user groups. Haselden, Diesslin and architect Davis Partnership of Denver worked closely with HRRMC to meet current needs and maximize future expansion capabilities.

Mile Hi Church Opens New Sanctuary

Mile Hi Church of Lakewood opened the doors to a new 44,000-sq-ft, 1,500-seat sanctuary in April.

Designed to support the rapid expansion of the congregation, the monolithic dome-shaped building is the largest structure on the Mile Hi Church campus at 9077 W. Alameda Ave. in Lakewood, and the biggest domed building in the Denver metro area.

Designed by Fentress Architects of Denver to be environmentally friendly and energy efficient, the 60-ft-tall dome, which has a diameter of 232 ft, will take fewer natural resources to operate than a comparably sized traditional building.

The new building provides Webcasting and television ability for global outreach and an event-sized stage designed to accommodate music and performing arts presentations of all sizes. These state-of-the-art features also support the surrounding population, since the facility will also serve as a local community performing arts center. The existing sanctuary will be renovated to add classroom and meeting space.

Mortenson Construction of Denver served as the general contractor.
