Tavern Tech Center Completed/Pinkard to Start New Salvation Army Rec. Center/1400 Wewatta Topped Off

Catamount Constructors Completes DTC Restaurant

Catamount Constructors Inc., a privately held commercial general contractor with offices in Denver and Atlanta, recently completed a new 9,000-sq-ft tavern and restaurant for Denver-based developer Tavern Hospitality Group.

Designed by Denver’s Semple Brown Design, the upscale two-story tavern includes a game room, Thunderbowl mini-lanes, a pool table, shuffleboard, a dining room and dance floor, several patios, a large fireplace, a lounge area with state-of-the-art plasma TVs and 7,800 sq ft of new parking space.

Interior finishes include timber and wood construction and high-end architectural features that highlight THG’s tavern brand. Exterior construction includes a complex mix of four different finishes, including natural stone veneer.

Construction began on the Tavern Tech Center in May 2007. It opened to the public in June. It is the fourth facility Catamount has constructed for THG in the Denver area.

Heath Construction Builds Live-Fire Training Facility

Northern Colorado-based Heath Construction recently completed a critical live-fire training facility for the Loveland Fire Rescue Department.

The $680,000 structural-burn building is designed and built to withstand 30 years of multiple, daily training fires.

The 2,000-sq-ft, two-story, all-concrete structure contains more than 254 yds of concrete reinforced with 20,000 lbs of rebar. It is lined with high-temperature thermal insulation and heat-resistant tiles.

Thermocouples monitor room and structure temperatures. Exterior and interior walls are constructed of masonry blocks, enabling the fire department to change floor plans without affecting the building’s structure.

The project team included the Belford Watkins Group and Elliot LeBoeuf & Associates.

Pinkard Breaks Ground on Salvation Army Center

Pinkard Construction Co. of Lakewood, along with The Salvation Army, Denver’s RNL Design and Salvation Army friends and supporters, recently broke ground on the $6.7-million Salvation Army Red Shield Recreation Center and renovation project in Denver.

The 30,840-sq-ft renovation will include infill of two open courtyards, a new entry/lobby, newly organized classrooms, computer labs, seniors’ lounge, additional community spaces, restroom expansions, mechanical and electrical systems retrofit, new exterior windows and partial exterior re-skin.

The new 15,250-sq-ft recreation center will be constructed at the current basketball courts site across High Street from the Red Shield Center. It will include a gymnasium, administrative offices and dance studio. The two-story structure will have extensive glazing, CMU perimeter walls and a steel bar joist roof structure.

Depending upon ongoing fundraising, construction is expected to begin in September.

JE Dunn Under Way With T. Rowe Price Remodel

JE Dunn Construction, a commercial general contractor with offices in Colorado Springs and Denver, is remodeling the 64,000-sq-ft Building One on the T. Rowe Price campus in Colorado Springs.

JE Dunn and Denver’s Gensler, the project architect, are working to achieve LEED-CI status on the $2.9-million project, scheduled for completion in November.

The remodel of the second and third floors includes demolition of offices and conference rooms; removal and replacement of flooring; removal and reconfiguration of light fixtures; replacement of CAT5 cabling with CAT6; and removal and replacement of the suspended acoustical ceiling.

JE Dunn recently completed the construction of a $41-million, 142,763-sq-ft office building and a 182,922-sq-ft parking structure for T. Rowe Price on its 31-acre campus at 2260 Briargate Parkway.

GE Johnson Constructing New Parker Adventist Professional Building

General contractor GE Johnson Construction Co. of Colorado Springs and Denver is constructing the new 100,000-sq-ft Parker Adventist Professional Building. Davis Partnership Architects of Denver designed the four-story, $10-million project, which will be built in three phases, based on core-and-shell build-out, lobby and corridor, and landscaping. Four parking lots will also be reconfigured.


Opus Northwest Tops Off 1400 Wewatta

Opus Northwest recently announced the topping off of the 1400 Wewatta office and retail building in Denver.

Part of a LEED-certified project that offers two distinct yet complementary buildings, 1400 Wewatta will provide users with 190,000 sq ft of Class AA office space and 10,000 sq ft of ground floor retail.

1400 Wewatta adjoins 1401 Wynkoop St., which offers an additional 100,000 sq ft of office space, with 22 penthouse-style residences. The project offers a prime location along Cherry Creek, between Wynkoop and Wewatta streets in LoDo.

The contemporary residences feature unobstructed views of the mountains, downtown Denver and Cherry Creek, as well as generously sized balconies, two reserved parking spaces for most residences and easy access to the Cherry Creek bike and walking path.

Krische Renovating Alameda High School

Krische Construction of Longmont is serving as the general contractor for an addition to and renovation of Alameda High School in Lakewood.

Krische is constructing a new two-story, 43,261-sq-ft academic classroom area, plus renovating the mechanical, electrical, telecommunications, security and fire systems for the current building, with expansion capabilities for future construction.

Work also includes the remodel of existing athletic and physical education rooms of approximately 7,330 sq ft. Site work includes new asphalt tennis and basketball courts and sidewalks.

The $7.9-million project is phased to allow for student occupancy during the school year. Work began in April and is scheduled for completion in July 2009.

The architect is Christiansen, Reece & Partners of Colorado Springs.

Alliance Construction Solutions to Build New Alzheimer’s Care Center

Alliance Construction Solutions of Wyoming has been chosen to build the Goshen County Alzheimer’s Care Center in Torrington, Wyo.

The Goshen County Alzheimer’s Care Center is an 18,500-sq-ft, single-story Alzheimer’s care facility. This new building will be attached to the existing facility by a breezeway. The new facility includes 28 individual units with common areas and kitchen facilities.

The project will be completed in early 2009.
