Planned Parenthood Health Center Completed/Water World Gets New Attraction/Library Project Started at CU-Boulder
Weitz Finishes Planned Parenthood Health Center Three Months Early
The Denver division of The Weitz Co. completed construction in July of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains’ new health center.
The center, near the revitalized Stapleton neighborhood, consolidates the organization’s offices, as well as its educational and medical services. The project was completed nearly three months ahead of the original schedule, despite an intimidation campaign conducted by an anti-choice group against Weitz. Despite the protests, the company honored its contract to provide construction services to PPRM.
The 52,468-sq-ft health center is located at 7155 E. 38th Ave. in Denver.
Construction consisted of renovating the 44,465-sq-ft existing structure, which had been a national call center, and an 8,603-sq-ft addition. Safety was the highest priority on the project site, and the job was completed without any incidents.

JE Dunn Delivers Logistics Center
JE Dunn Construction, a general building contractor with offices in Denver and Colorado Springs, recently completed its 12,000-sq-ft Logistics Center on a 3.4-acre site in Aurora.
The new facility allows JE Dunn to increase its available supply of construction equipment to support growing >> construction operations. Equipment at the site ranges from small hand tools to tower cranes and job trailers.
The delivery of JE Dunn’s logistics center represents the completion of its multi-year facilities roll-out master plan for Colorado operations. In 2001, JE Dunn purchased land in Colorado Springs and constructed a new 11,000-sq-ft office, adjacent satellite warehouse and equipment yard. In 2003, JE Dunn signed a 10-year lease to occupy the top floor of Colorado Center Tower One in Denver. Several months ago, the company took over another entire floor and now occupies 31,400 sq ft of Colorado Center Tower One, which is located at the Colorado Station Light Rail stop.

Creighton University Pedestrian Mall Enters Final Construction Phase
The end of summer marks the completion of a major chapter in the ongoing renovation of Creighton University in downtown Omaha. The five-phased California Street Pedestrian Mall Redevelopment is six city blocks long and includes $7.25 million in site improvements.
The pedestrian mall serves as the campus’ primary pedestrian artery and is an integral component of the 2003 master plan prepared by Denver-based campus planning/urban design/landscape architecture firm studioINSITE. Following design guidelines set forth in the master plan, the improved design incorporates such elements as brick pavers, seat walls, landscaping, lighting and signage design. Like phases one and two, the subsequent phases of the mall’s redevelopment maintain the corridor’s character and animation.
StudioINSITE picked up concurrent 2005 Architectural Portfolio Awards from American School & University for its Creighton University Master Plan and California Street Pedestrian Mall Redevelopment, phases one and two.
GTC Completes Two Colorado Projects
Golden Triangle Construction of Longmont recently completed Golden Fire Station No. 1 in Golden and Century Plaza, a new flex/office building in Louisville.
Golden Fire Station No. 1, designed by Hauser Architects, is a 14,000-sq-ft, two-story building that includes six fire apparatus, expanded administrative offices, state-of-the-art training facilities and crew quarters for up to eight volunteer firefighters.
The station was originally built in 1961 and underwent a major renovation in 1974. But as call volume increased over the years, it was challenged to continue providing timely fire response while maintaining one of the few volunteer departments in the metro area. Volunteers needed to be scheduled in shifts, but that required accommodations not available at the facility, so the Golden City Council approved plans to construct a new station. Firefighters received the keys to the new station in mid-April and the first call was run out of the station just minutes after the fire trucks were moved in.
Century Plaza, designed by Intergroup Architects, is a single-story, 62,350-sq-ft, flex/office building on a 5.5-acre site in Louisville.
