Nolte Wins Contract for Cherokee Denver
TOD
The newly established Broadway Station Metro District No.
1 selected Nolte Associates to provide design management for
the infrastructure that serves the 50-acre, two-parcel Cherokee
Denver redevelopment site at Interstate 25 and Broadway.
This area will be the site of Denver's first major transit-oriented
development. Situated near the existing Broadway RTD light
rail station, the site will be a point of confluence for existing
and future light rail transit surrounded by a mixed-use development.
Nolte will also provide site development design for the western
24-acre parcel, the site's first mixed-use project. Under
development by Joseph Freed and Associates, it's expected
to house 1,500 high-density residential units, 500,000 to
600,000 sq ft of retail and more than 200,000 sq ft of office
space.
Construction Companies Rescue Animal Shelter
Several members of the local construction industry rushed
to the aid of the Animal Rescue & Adoption Society in
August, donating more than $10,000 worth of work and materials.
The no-kill animal shelter in Denver was in trouble after
it paid a contractor $26,000 in late January to complete a
variety of projects on its 40-year-old building, and $8,000
worth of materials and work were never delivered or completed.
The projects included replacing the building's roof and siding,
ordering and installing new windows, a new wing and a heating
and air conditioning unit.
After a local television newscast aired a story on the shelter's
woes, four roofers from the Colorado Roofing Association -
Excel Roofing, Front Range Roofing, Superior Roofing and Boulder
Roofing - organized an effort to help the shelter fix its
roof.
ADK Electrical volunteered crews to ensure the electrical
system in the 40-year-old building was up to code, and Centennial
Home Improvements provided the shelter with new windows at
less than a third of the usual cost. CHI owner James Slater
is also installing the windows for free.
