Constructing Housing for the Homeless/Nolte Develops Master Water Plan for Regional Airport

Milender White Acquires Sinnett Builders

Golden-based Milender White Construction Co. recently announced its acquisition of Sinnett Builders Inc. of Fort Collins.

The merger will allow Milender White to achieve a sustained presence in Northern Colorado and Wyoming while providing Sinnett Builders with the resources to grow and reaffirm itself as an area leader.

As a division of Milender White, Sinnett Builders will maintain its regional presence and the long-term relationships it has developed throughout Northern Colorado’s communities for the past 35 years.

Todd Piccone will be the division’s area manager while Dennis Sinnett will remain on board as the division’s vice president.

Nolte Develops Master Water Plan at Garfield County Regional Airport

Nolte Associates Inc. has developed the master plan for water and sanitary sewer systems at Garfield County Regional Airport.

The Garfield airport, located near Rifle, is Colorado’s busiest general aviation airport outside metro Denver. It went into service in 1940 and today features a 7,000-ft by 100-ft runway serving single- and multi-engine planes and jets, as well as helicopters. In recent years, Garfield Airport has experienced increasing demands on its services because of the growth of the surrounding community and its prime location within an hour of three resort communities.

Garfield Airport currently has 18 buildings onsite with an additional 26 hangars planned, including 11 now in development. Upgrading the water and sanitary sewer systems to support this expansion was identified as a critical need.

Nolte’s master planning services included evaluation of the existing water and sewer system’s capacity to meet both current and projected demands for the airport. The process also identified the need for new facilities, fire protection recommendations and a phased plan for implementing improvements.

MW Golden Constructors of Castle Rock recently completed a remodel of the Black Hawk Fire Station.

The remodel of the Black Hawk Fire Station kitchen involved providing all new casework, stainless steel countertops, seamless epoxy flooring, new doors and frames, a new kitchen hood and exhaust and all associated mechanical and electrical work.

The Black Hawk Fire Department completed the design work. The project marks the sixth project MW Golden has completed in Black Hawk.

Alliance Construction Solutions Building Renaissance Uptown Lofts

Alliance Construction Solutions is building the Renaissance Uptown Lofts for the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless and Renaissance Housing Development Corp.

This project is located on the corner of Colfax and Pearl streets in Denver. An existing retail building on the site was partially demolished to provide space for the new construction. A portion of the façade of the existing building will be preserved and restored and the new construction is being built behind the restored façade.

The Renaissance Uptown Lofts will provide 99 units of rental housing and approximately 8,000 sq ft of retail space. The housing will be provided through Denver Housing First Collaborative and other Colorado Coalition for the Homeless programs.

The Denver Housing First Collaborative assists people who are chronically homeless by helping them move into stable, permanent housing and receive services and other support.

Green Valley Ranch Community Center Project Under Way

Eidos Architects of Greenwood Village has recently joined the GVR Metropolitan District in working on the new 14,000-sq-ft Green Valley Ranch Community Center in northeast Denver.

The center features components designed to enhance the lives of the residents in the growing community, including classrooms and meeting rooms for youth, teen and adult programs and community events. The beautifully landscaped outdoor facilities such as a gazebo and amphitheater will enhance a wide array of programs and functions.

The sloped roof elements of the building and residential-like materials are designed to make the building blend with the architecture of the community while creating a warm and inviting amenity for the neighborhood.

The project is anticipated to be complete in late spring 2009.
