FLA Celebrates 30 Years/PCL Makes Record Contribution to Mile High United Way/Mortenson Recognized by NREL

Architects Mark Anniversary with Donations to Local Food Bank

Fletemeyer & Lee Associates Inc., a Boulder-based architecture and landscape architecture firm, recently celebrated its 30-year anniversary with an event that had an added twist—a commitment to support a local food bank. Together, FLA staff and guests collected 420 lb of food.

Philanthropy is one of the firm’s core values and its gifts of time and talent have helped to create places that enhance the lives of children, the elderly and those that are physically challenged.

FLA has also donated services such as master planning and conceptual drawings for PleasantView Fields, a courtyard for Centennial Middle School, a preschool playground and church site for First Presbyterian Church, and baseball stadium seating for Fairview High School.

PCL Contributes $1 Million To Mile High United Way

PCL Construction Enterprises Inc. made a record-breaking $1.06-million contribution to Mile High United Way in December. Despite tough economic times, the 160 employees in PCL’s Denver office kicked off their annual United Way fundraiser on Nov. 3 and then far surpassed the firm’s $400,000 goal by collecting more than $1 million in donations and company-matched dollars in less than two weeks.

A portion of PCL’s gift will fulfill the company’s pledge last year to raise $1 million over four years for Lights On After School, a program designed to reduce middle school and high school dropout rates and increase academic performance in the Denver Public Schools through quality after-school programs.

PCL Denver began partnering with Mile High United Way in 1998, giving $34,838 in employee and company-matched contributions. By 2007 that number had increased to $904,000.

Mortenson Recognized by NREL

Denver’s Mortenson Construction recently received a certificate of recognition from the Colorado Renewable Energy Society for its contributions to the successful construction of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory Science and Technology facility in Golden.

The certificate was presented to Mortenson based on the contractor’s “outstanding contribution to the demonstration of high-performance buildings through energy efficiency and renewable energy.”

MOA Joins Prestigious K-12 Design Organization

Denver’s MOA Architecture recently became the newest member of the prestigious America’s Schoolhouse Council.

A national-level professional collaboration, ASC is dedicated to improving student learning through creation of better academic facilities. Membership is selective, offered to firms based on their excellence in planning, building and maintaining K-12 schools.

Joining America’s Schoolhouse Council allows MOA to tap into the collective resources of K-12 design firms across the county and share that expertise with clients. Washington Park 5K Charity Run Raises $5,000
