GreenLight Engineering Founded in Denver/Martin & Martin Celebrates 20 Years/Sears Trostel Goes Green
New Engineering Firm Founded in Denver
Two local engineers have founded a new electrical engineering and lighting design firm specializing in sustainable and energy-efficient building design.
Tim Flanagan, a licensed electrical engineer in Colorado, and Melissa Friedland, an architectural engineer specializing in lighting design, launched GreenLight Engineering in November. The firm’s mission is to provide exceptional electrical engineering and lighting design services that are environmentally responsible.
GreenLight’s initial projects will be providing electrical engineering design for a LEED Gold office building in Colorado Springs as well as a lighting upgrade at the Colorado State Capitol Building.
The firm also offers educational seminars for architects and members of the construction industry on lighting design and sustainable engineering.
As part of the launch, GreenLight Engineering unveiled its Web site at www.greenlighteng.com.
Martin/Martin Celebrates 20 Years in Business
To mark its 20th anniversary, members of Lakewood-based Martin/Martin Inc. created a “Martinopoly” game that chronicles the company’s past 20 years.
With many A/E/C collaborations, the firm engineered a variety of structures and infrastructure for Colorado Front Range communities. Some notable projects include: Coors Field, Wellington E. Webb Municipal Office Building, Colorado Convention Center Expansion, Quigg Newton Auditorium Theater & Ellie Caulkins Opera House, The Village at Avon, Stapleton Business Center, Lakewood City Commons and High Point.

Xcel Steam Plant

Sears Trostel Lumber Receives International Green Certification
Sears Trostel Lumber and Millwork, which recently received Forest Stewardship Council certification, is the only manufacturer in Fort Collins or Loveland to sell environmentally friendly moldings made from certified, sustainably grown wood.
The Forest Stewardship Council is an independent nonprofit that promotes responsible management of the world’s working forests. Forest certification is a process where landowners and manufacturers invite third-party auditors to certify that their practices meet internationally recognized standards for responsible forest management.
FSC certification means that products flow directly from certified forests and suppliers to the marketplace with a traceable credential that allows consumers to identify environmentally friendly wood products.
Sears Trostel is one of only nine lumber and millwork companies in Colorado that are FSC certified.
