Getting New Denver HQ/Westfield Insurance Expands Into Colorado
St. Anthony Central Hires Developer for Old Site
St. Anthony Central Hospital has retained Denver’s Romani Group Inc. to manage property disposition of the hospital’s existing 16-acre site in Denver.
Acquisition and development proposals will be solicited in 2011, allowing redevelopment to begin soon after St. Anthony Central completes its relocation to the new hospital in Lakewood.
Romani Group’s engagement will involve three distinct phases: property investigation, entitlement and community outreach and disposition services.
The current St. Anthony Central site is adjacent to Sloan’s Lake and bordered by Colfax Avenue, Stuart Street, 17th Avenue and Perry Street.
Denver Contractors Helping Habitat Renovate Its New Office
GE Johnson Construction Co. of Denver is leading more than 20 local contractors who are donating time, resources and materials to renovate Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver’s new headquarters.
Originally constructed in the early 1950s, the 17,000-sq-ft former Teamsters building at 3245 Eliot St. in Denver will undergo interior demolition and receive a completely new tenant finish.
Local architect Peter Hynes of Urbitecture designed the renovation. Many other local trades—including electricians, engineers, concrete manufacturers and window companies—are donating both products and services to help cover more than 62% of the total project cost.
Nolte Associates Receives 2009 Best of Centennial Award
The U.S. Commerce Association has selected Nolte Associates Inc.’s Centennial office for the 2009 Best of Centennial Award in the civil engineering category.
The USCA Best of Local Business Award Program recognizes outstanding local businesses throughout the country. Each year, the USCA identifies companies that it believes have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local communities and business categories. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and community.
The 2009 USCA Award Program focused on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the USCA and from data provided by third parties.
Westfield Insurance to Expand into Colorado
Westfield Insurance recently announced it will expand its commercial operations into Colorado this year.
As part of the expansion plans, a new service office will open in Denver. The existing surety office, currently located in Denver, will be consolidated with the new service office.
Middle Market Field Managers Dan Sierra and Shawn Leonard and Claims Manager Don Rivkin are currently on the ground in Colorado, helping with all necessary preparations to start writing business here. A risk-control specialist and underwriting assistant will be ready to support business later this year.
Gallegos Gives Scholarships to Employees’ Children
In June the Gallegos Corp., headquartered in Vail, made high school graduation day a bit sweeter with scholarships awarded to the children of its employees.

This year, four students received scholarships from Gallegos. Krista Aoki, whose mother works in the accounts payable department, will be attending Humboldt University in California and pursuing a degree in journalism.
Aaron Hughey, son of Kevin Hughey in the Denver plaster division, is a U.S. Air Force Academy Cadet candidate for 2010. Ariel Rodriguez Jr., son of Ariel Sr. from the marble/granite division, plans to attend Colorado Mountain College and work in Web design. Finally, Justin Evancho, whose father works in the mountain plaster division, will also be attending CMC part time.
Rider Levett Bucknall Expanding in Denver
International property and construction consultant Rider Levett Bucknall’s Denver office has relocated to a larger space at the 18th Street Atrium Building in LoDo. The RLB Denver team has also increased its services to include construction management and owner’s representation and has brought on Senior Project Manager Rob Taylor to lead this division.
Taylor transferred from Rider Levett Bucknall’s Las Vegas office in June and brings his 10 years of construction management and owner’s representation experience to the Denver office.
