Office/Mortenson's Cunz Honored as One of Best '40 Under 40'

Parsons Brinckerhoff Vice President Ray Chamberlain, also the former president of Colorado State University, is the fourth person associated with the school's College of Engineering to be elected to the 2,000-member National Academy of Engineering.

Former Colorado State University President Ray Chamberlain, a major contributor to the field of transportation research, has been elected to the National Academy of Engineering.

Chamberlain received his doctoral degree in civil engineering from Colorado State - known then as Colorado A&M - in 1955. He was the first person awarded a doctoral degree by the university. Today he is vice president of Parsons Brinckerhoff.


Jared Samples, an estimator for White Construction Group since 2005, is the company's first employee to earn LEED professional accreditation.


Denver-based Swanson Rink recently hired two new staff members - Ann Ackerman, lighting designer and electrical engineer; and Darrell Cortez, fire alarm design specialist.


Alex Gorsevski, PE, was promoted to principal at McLaughlin Rincon.

Gorsevski recently returned from Macedonia, where he managed the design and construction of community water delivery systems as a consultant to a USAID project.

The firm also made two new hires - Randall McAnulty, project draftsman; and Brian Polak, project engineer.


Robert Rager, Renée del Gaudio, Sage Maurer and David Grooms have joined Semple Brown Design PC in Denver.


Walt Dutko was named president and chief operating officer of CLC Associates, and Jim Shipton was appointed senior vice president.


Architectural Engineering Design Group Inc. expanded its LoDo office space to make room for two new project designers - Jamie Wilson and Bryan Jass.


Riviera Electric hired seven new people in Colorado - Sharon Bratton, Jason O'Conner, Cody Crocker, Carl Meisel, Eric Krischke, Noah Deleon and Stewart Hagen.

Bratton is a receptionist at the company's Littleton office. O'Conner, journeyman; Crocker, first-period apprentice; and Meisel and Krischke, eighth-period apprentices, work in the Colorado Springs office. Deleon, first-period apprentice; and Hagen, eighth-period apprentice; work in Riviera's mountain office.


Derek Cunz, director of project development at M. A. Mortenson's Colorado Operating Group, was named one of Building Design & Construction magazine's "40 under 40," selected from among 448 nominees in a program recognizing 40 rising young stars in the A/E/C industry.


Forest City appointed Kemel Blue Jr. as a general manager and director of marketing for NorthField at Stapleton and Diana Fiore as director of marketing.


Boulder-based JVA Inc. named three of its staff members - Michael McDonald, PE, Howard McHenry and Sarah Watts - as associates.


RNL in Denver made the following promotions - associate principal and architecture studio head Carl Hole, AIA, to director of operations; landscape studio head Marc Stutzman and interior designer Kindell Williams to associate principals; and Barbara Berastegui, Angelia Cowgill and Ron Izzo to senior associate.

New associates for 2006 include Lisa Beckman, Steve Breitzka, Chad Coxsey, Ryan Dawson, Ross Eddy, Stephanie Fortner, Tom Hootman, Jana Nelson, Kara Newmark and Steve Paddock.


Gene Murphy joined Carter & Burgess as a client services manager with the aviation division of the Denver office. Before joining the firm, he was senior project manager with Washington Group International.


Dennis Brookie joined Denver's Nuszer Kopatz as a principal to head the firm's new construction observation studio, which will provide final observation and field inspection for all the firm's projects to maintain compliance with construction documents.


Fransen Pittman General Contractors of Englewood hired five new staff members - Allen Rutherford, project manager; Reese McKay, survey manager; Meagan Cross-Lodge, project coordinator; Karen Windsor, administrative assistant; and Heidi McBride, marketing and communications manager.


Barry Stamp, PE , LEED AP, become a full partner and third principal at Shaffer Baucom Engineering & Consulting.


Dave Alberts joined Saunders Construction Inc. in Centennial as chief financial officer.


Brad Beck, Jerry Richmond, Joe Bellio, Kerry O'Brien and Mike McGee joined Alberta Development Partners LLC to help in the development and management of multiple projects throughout the Denver metro area.

Beck, a leasing manager, will concentrate on the Northlands development in Broomfield. Richmond is a principal with responsibility for residential properties. Bellio, also a principal, is responsible for operations and property management. O'Brien is director of marketing and public relations. McGee is a senior project manager.


Bob Binder, AIA, principal of DLR Group in Colorado Springs, received LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.


J.E. Dunn Construction promoted three staff members - Charlie Dunaway to assistant superintendent; and Mike Disler and Ian Warner, carpenter foremen.


Marty Galley, who has more than 20 years of project supervision and project management experience, joined the project supervision team at Himmelman Construction.


James Turpen is Aardex Corp.'s new vice president of property management services. He joined the Denver-based company after serving five years as CEO of the medical real estate management firm Insite.


Megan Moye joined David Owen Tryba Architects as director of marketing.
Moye has 10 years of experience marketing for architects and engineers, including Gensler in New York and klipp in Denver. In 2005 she led the rebranding of Durrant Architects and Engineers.


Tony Gillot and Jim Rowland recently joined JB Henderson Construction Co. in Colorado Springs - Gillot as a project engineer, Rowland as site manager.


JR Engineering announced the following professional achievements by several of its staff members:

Thane Bishop, a Surveyor II, and Jim Lynch, project surveyor, earned Professional Land Surveyor certification. Matt Culpo, project engineer, received certification from the Association of State Floodplain Managers. Bryan Reid, project engineer, has become a Colorado Professional Engineer. Joe Sparone, project engineer, has become a Colorado Professional Engineer. Chad Washburn, project surveyor, has become a Colorado Professional Land Surveyor.


Scott Beckman joined HDR in Denver as a sustainable design project manager.
Before joining the firm, he worked for H+L Architecture and Tectonic Network; ,he was also a project consultant for Talisman Partners Ltd.


Keilani Amo was promoted to director of marketing at Durrant in Denver, where her responsibilities include coordinating marketing efforts for the firm's 13 offices across the United States.


Bernie Costello was promoted to vice president of architecture at Keller Homes, and Ed Gonzalez was been promoted to director of land operations. Rachele Rank joined the company as human resources manager.


The RMH Group's president, Tom Moore, PE; electrical engineer Kirsten Cremona, PE; and mechanical engineer Caleb Rockenbaugh have became LEED-accredited professionals through the U.S. Green Building Council.


Elmer Janz joined Lantz-Boggio Architects in Englewood.


David Renn, PE, SE; Steven Marshall, PE; and Troy Fornstrom, PE; were named associates in the structural department at S.A. Miro Inc. Linsey Chalfant and Joe Zufall in the firm's civil department were promoted to Design Engineer II.
