Engineering Prof Named to CU Leadership/RNL Names Sustainability Director/Terracon Promotes Two
Stein Sture, the Huber and Helen Croft Endowed Professor in the department of civil, environmental and architectural engineering at the University of Colorado at Boulder, was named vice chancellor for research and dean of CU-Boulder’s graduate school this spring.
Sture has been serving as the faculty director of special projects and initiatives in the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and also served as interim vice chancellor for research and dean of the graduate school from October 2005 through July 2006.
Sture was one of five finalists who vied for the position, including Interim Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate School Dean Susan Avery. He will start his new position Aug. 1 at an annual salary of $220,000.
Tim Lines, a vice president in Stantec’s Phoenix office, was recently named regional leader for the company’s mountain region, which includes offices in Denver, Colorado Springs, Fort Collins and Salt Lake City.
He will also continue to serve as regional leader for the firm’s desert region, which includes offices in Phoenix, Tucson, Flagstaff and Las Vegas.
Charles Adkisson and Deborah Barber were named principals at Barber Architecture in Denver while Steve Cummings was named associate principal.
Adkisson, who has been with the firm for 25 years, is director of quality control. Barber, with the firm for 29 years, is director of interior design. Cummings is a senior project architect.
Additionally, Bryon Gaston, an architectural visualization specialist, was promoted to senior associate and Jesi Byrne, project coordinator and executive assistant, was promoted to senior technician.
Thomas Hootman, AIA, LEED AP, was promoted to director of sustainability at RNL in Denver.
He is also president and board chairman of the U.S. Green Building Council’s Colorado chapter.
Sue Grabler and Gary Gable joined David Evans and Associates Inc.
Grabler is a senior rail project manager. Gable is a survey project manager.
JE Dunn Construction in Denver added three new people to its staff—Mark Isbell, project manager; John McClellan, M/E coordinator; and Drew Albrecht, assistant estimator.
Shane Lekwa and Todd Richards, both senior landscape architects, were named as associates at DTJ Design Inc. in Boulder.
Adam Oliver joined the Denver regional office of Brinkmann Constructors as a project engineer, while Dustin Graul was promoted to project manager.
