Transportation Commission Re-elects Its Chairman/CU Professors Named Jefferson Science Fellows/Architectural Firms Add to Ranks of LEED Accreditations
Two University of Colorado at Boulder professors are working at the State Department this year as recipients of Jefferson Science Fellows grants.
The 11-member Colorado Transportation Commission has re-elected Doug Aden of Grand Junction as its chairman. Aden represents District 7, which includes Chaffee, Delta, Eagle, Garfield, Gunnison, Lake, Mesa, Montrose, Ouray, Pitkin and Summit counties.
The commission also re-elected Bill Swenson of Longmont as its vice chairman. Swenson, a former state representative, represents District 4, which includes Boulder and Adams counties.
University of Colorado at Boulder professors Ross Corotis and Jerry Peterson have been named Jefferson Science Fellows and will spend the 2007-08 academic year working full time at the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C. They reported to the Office of the Science and Technology Adviser to the Secretary of State in mid-August.
Don Chall has been hired as estimating manager for Jack B. Henderson Construction Co. Inc., headquartered in Albuquerque. He will be responsible for management and coordination of mechanical, architectural and general contracting estimates in support of JBHCC operations in Albuquerque, Los Alamos and Rio Rancho, N.M., Colorado Springs and Utah.
Andrews & Anderson Architects of Golden recently promoted two staff members.
Bob Phillips has been promoted from architect to senior associate. Phillips has been with the firm since 1998, working on key projects such as the Denver Mountain Parks Rehabilitation Master Plan and implementation, the Grand County Judicial Center and the Churches Ranch rehabilitation.
Andy Emke has been promoted from designer to associate. Emke has been with the firm since 1999, with a break in 2003 to attend Washington University, where he received his master’s degree in architecture, as well as attending a study abroad at the Helsinki University of Technology.
Maria Cole recently joined Denver-based klipp as a senior associate. Before joining the architectural firm, Cole worked as an associate at Davis Partnership, where she served as the local project architect for both the Denver Art Museum Expansion and the Museum of Contemporary Art.
Mark Youker joined Richard P. Arber Associates of Lakewood as a construction manager. He has his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Purdue University and is certified by the state of Colorado as a Class 3 Distribution and a Class 3 Collection Operator.
Stanley Consultants Inc. of Denver named Gayle A. Roberts president and CEO, effective Sept. 18. Gregs Thomopulos, former president and CEO, was named chairman and CEO; and Dick Stanley, current chairman, became chairman emeritus and continues as a director of the company.
Nolte Associates Inc. of Denver has named Todd Beers group director of surveying for the company’s Denver survey teams. Beers will manage several surveying teams, providing guidance and training staff in the collection, processing and delivery of survey information using the most appropriate application to deliver data that can be directly applied to clients’ projects.
MKK Consulting Engineers Inc. has added 13 new employees over the past five months within its three office locations: Greenwood Village; Billings, Mont. and Cheyenne, Wyo. The Colorado office welcomed Joe Beard, Dustin Mahoney, Brian Eagleton, Matt Demery, Benjamin Schlup, Anthony Niederhauser and Benjamin Schulz. The MKK Cheyenne office added four new staff members: Patrick Moranville, Eric Eifealdt, Brodie Karabensh and Alice Vogelmann. MKK’s Billings office welcomed Jens Selvig, IV and Kyle Blankenship.
Four staff members of S. A. Miro Inc.’s Denver and Summit County offices have recently earned LEED AP TM accreditation from the U.S. Green Building Council. They are: Steve Mystkowski, associate principal and civil department manager; Greg Weeks, associate and civil project manager; Jessica Marshall, project engineer and structural project engineer, based in the Summit County office; and Kyle Williams, intern with the Retail Architecture group.
Five staff members, including two company principals, at Denver’s MOA Architecture have received LEED accreditation through the U.S. Green Building Council. The newest LEED APs are principals Robert Outland and Barry Koury; Rick Arriaga, associate job captain; Ari Irfano, designer; and Vaishali Patel, job captain. MOA currently has 13 LEED-accredited professionals on staff.
MOA also appointed two associates to new positions. Cornell Allen, associate, has been named the MOA Intern Development Program advocate program manager. Bernadette Kelly has been named the MOA sustainable practice manager.
Pahl Architecture announced that Justin Gerze has earned LEED accreditation from the U.S. Green Building Council. This brings the firm’s total number of LEED-accredited professionals to three.
Martin/Martin Inc. Consulting Engineers recently promoted Emily Guglielmo to professional engineer.
Denver-based Van Tilburg, Banvard & Soderbergh recently added Steven L. Gardner, who has worked for VTBS in the firm’s Santa Monica, Calif., office since 2005 as a project manager/project architect, and will continue that role in Denver.
Psomas recently promoted Leonard Wilson to principal. The firm also added Rick Nichols as senior project manager in the Denver office.
