ABC Honors Wiederspahn with Special Service Award/Palace Construction Announces New LEED APs/Flatiron Construction Makes New Executive Appointments
The Associated Builders and Contractors Rocky Mountain Chapter recently honored Rex Wiederspahn, president and CEO of Quality Electric Inc., with its Special Service Award, which recognizes the outstanding efforts of an individual, group or company that has made a significant contribution to the industry.
Palace Construction of Denver recently announced four new LEED-accredited professionals: Rich Kagiyama, Beth Tutt, Bob Wilson and Seth Reel.
Kagiyama, a commercial project executive with Palace since 1994, has also been named LEED program manager for Palace.
Tutt joined Palace in 2005 as an assistant project engineer and will be leading Palace in the Existing Building Certification of the firm’s corporate headquarters. She is currently working at Flatirons Terrace at Golden West Manor, an 110,000-sq-ft senior independent living facility in Boulder.
Wilson, senior cost estimator, has been with Palace since 2004 and in the construction industry since 1972. He is currently providing preconstruction services for projects totaling more than $47 million.
Reel is a project engineer and has been with Palace since 2004. He recently completed The Sunflower Market in the Highland Gardens neighborhood, where he oversaw adherence to all LEED criteria on the construction site. LEED-silver certification is pending on the core-and-shell of the building.
Candace Morales has joined Murphy Co. as a service account manager. Morales attended the University of Southern Colorado.
JE Dunn Construction, a commercial general contractor with instate offices in Colorado Springs and Denver, recently announced that Michele “Mikki” Andersen has joined the firm as director of business development.
Andersen’s experience includes developing and implementing client acquisition strategies and creating marketing initiatives to increase exposure and secure new contracts. She is also well versed in all facets of marketing, from coordinating the production of detailed government proposals to public relations. She is currently a member of the Society of American Military Engineers and the Sustaining Member Chairperson of the Pikes Peak Post.
Longmont-based Flatiron Construction Corp. recently announced the following executive appointments.
Following the appointment of Bob French, former Flatiron Constructors Inc. president, to chief operations officer of Flatiron Construction Corp., Andrew Ord has joined the company as president of Flatiron Constructors Inc. Ord will be based out of Flatiron’s corporate headquarters in Colorado and will oversee the heavy civil division’s operations.
Gregory Henk has joined Flatiron Constructors as a vice president of business development at Flatiron Constructors Inc. He will pursue design-build and public-private partnership projects, initially concentrating on the multi-billion-dollar Regional Transportation District’s FasTracks program.
The company also appointed Jerry Hartbarger as the new vice president of human resources for Flatiron Construction Corp. He holds a master’s degree in organizational development from the University of New Mexico.
Rider Levett Bucknall recently announced the addition of Roger Graham as cost manager based in the Denver office.
Graham holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting with minors in computer science, economics and mathematics. He has worked in the British Indian Ocean Territories as an MEP project manager and general operations manager in Grand Junction.
WinWholesale has appointed Jim Kennaugh an area leader in the company’s western region.
Kennaugh, based in Denver, is responsible for overseeing the growth and operation of 35 companies representing brands such as Winnelson, Winlectric and Winair in the Denver metro area, northern Colorado and all of Wyoming. He succeeds Mike Samuelson, who retired after more than 30 years with WinWholesale.
Adolfson & Peterson Construction of Aurora recently announced that nine employees have recently achieved LEED Accredited Professional status bringing the company's total to 51.
A&P offers an in-house training program for the employees to become LEED-accredited. The employees who have recently passed the LEED AP exam are Brian Yahn, superintendent; Scott Bruce, superintendent; Jim Dykhoff, superintendent; Charles Zachemsky, project manager; Cole Mayer, estimator; Matt Brown, field engineer; Michael Krug, field engineer; and Suvi Caton, marketing director. Joe Bedford, MEP coordinator, recently joined A&P, and is LEED-accredited as well.
Dana Harris has joined Terracon as environmental department manager in the Fort Collins office. Harris is responsible for client service, project management and new business development. He has more than 16 years of professional experience in environmental consulting.
The Land Advisors Organization recently announced that Rita Anderson has joined the company’s Denver team as a specialized market expert concentrating on the Northern Front Range area. Her main focus includes the major transportation corridors of I-25, I-76, I-70, E-470/Northwest Parkway and U.S. 36.
Jennifer Jackson has joined EEI Healthcare as a junior commissioning authority. EEI Healthcare, a specialty branch of Engineering Economics Inc., is focused on the assessment, planning and commissioning of pharmaceutical, research and health-care facilities.
Jackson has been involved in the Denver AEC market since 2006 and brings with her a varied background that will assist her in coordinating the varied needs of EEI Healthcare clients and project managers. She is currently studying for the LEED exam.
