Urban Drainage Executive Director Retires After 26 Years/Hyder Construction Announces LEED APs/Honnen Equipment Promotes New Vice President

David W. Lloyd, executive director of the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District, retired in July after 26 years of service with the district.

Lloyd started with the district in 1982 as a project engineer with the maintenance program and in 1985 transferred to the design and construction program. He served as manager of that program until 2004, when he was appointed executive director.

The district is a governmental agency covering Denver and portions of the seven surrounding metropolitan counties. As executive director, Lloyd reported to a 23-member Board of Directors consisting of locally elected officials and two professional engineers.


JE Dunn Construction, a commercial general contractor with offices in Denver and Colorado Springs, recently hired Matt Meyer, senior project manager; and Rajendra Ramkumar, senior estimator.

Meyer joined the firm with more than 20 years of project management experience. His background is in health-care and laboratory projects, including the Good Samaritan Medical Center, a 570,000-sq-ft hospital in Lafayette; and Denver Health Medical Center’s Women and Children’s pavilion, a 228,000-sq-ft facility on the Denver Health Medical Center Campus.

With more than 12 years of construction industry experience, Ramkumar brings expertise in budget development and cost control. His background includes commercial projects ranging in size from $3 million to $110 million, where he led efforts in conceptual estimating, value engineering, budget monitoring and coordination.


Kumar & Associates Inc. recently welcomed Kayde Pierce to its Denver office as the business development coordinator. She is actively involved in SMPS, CREW, NAIOP, SAME and several different business-leads groups in the construction industry.


Craig Meis, a 23-year veteran of The Anschutz Corp., has been named vice president and chief financial officer of Avon-based Vail Capital Partners Inc.

Vail Capital Partners is the Vail Valley private-equity firm that recently acquired a 117-unit residential complex in Eagle County slated for redevelopment. Meis will be responsible for all VCP financial and operational activities, including deal analysis and debt and equity financing.

During his tenure with The Anschutz Corp., Meis served in a variety of management positions, including chief operating officer of Ansco Investment Co.


Denver-based Hyder Construction recently announced that project manager Brad Bakel and estimator Dean Nickell have earned LEED accreditation. Hyder Construction currently has six LEED-accredited employees.

Honnen Equipment Co. recently announced the promotion of Rusty L. Anderson to vice president. Anderson, who has been with Honnen for six years, will continue to be the Wyoming regional sales manager overseeing sales operations for the Casper, Gillette and Rock Springs, Wyo., branches as well as the general manager for the state.

Honnen Equipment Co. appointed Steve Malloy as the company’s new Colorado Western Slope regional sales manager. Malloy, who brings 15 years of John Deere sales experience in Wyoming and Texas to the region, will oversee sales operations for the Western Slope, in addition to taking on branch manager responsibilities in Grand Junction.

Honnen Equipment Co. also appointed Matt Murphy as the company’s new Colorado Front Range regional sales manager. Murphy will oversee John Deere Construction & Forestry sales operations for the Denver Metro and Front Range areas.

Steve Bruskivage was recently introduced as the company’s new Used Equipment and Allied Product Division sales manager. Bruskivage, will oversee sales operations for all the used equipment and allied product lines Honnen carries.
