ULI Colorado Names New Vice Chair/Haselden Hires New Safety Engineer/Construction Industry Leader Named to CU Professorship
Bill Mosher, a noted community leader and developer of urban projects, has been named vice chair of the Colorado District Council of the Urban Land Institute. He has been active in ULI’s transit-oriented development public outreach programs. Mosher will serve a one-year term and succeed V. Michael Komppa, president of Corum Real Estate, as chair of ULI Colorado on July 1, 2009.
Past chairs of ULI Colorado include Marilee Utter, Citiventure Associates; Julie Bender, North Cherry Creek Business Improvement District; James DeFrancia, Lowe Enterprises; and Byron Koste, CU Real Estate Center.
Don Chambliss, project manager; Eric Kimmelshue, senior project manager; and Will Valkner, preconstruction manager of Aurora’s Adolfson & Peterson Construction have earned LEED accreditation through the USGBC.
A&P now has 35 LEED-accredited professionals in Colorado and 64 nationwide.
Thomas L. Noland has joined Haselden Construction as a safety engineer. He comes to Haselden Construction after six years with the Associated Builders & Contractors Rocky Mountain Chapter, where he was the director of safety and education. In that role, Noland worked with ABC-member companies to maximize safety-training opportunities for field and management staff, as well as working to recruit and improve the next generation of the construction work force.
Englewood-base Fransen Pittman General Contractors has promoted one team member and added two new members to its preconstruction team.
Bev Wilkinson has been promoted to project estimator. Her role includes completing quantity takeoffs, coordinating work with subcontractors and analyzing different building systems for value-engineering options.
Senior estimator Tom Saunders has joined Fransen Pittman’s preconstruction team. He has 28 years of construction experience, including 12 years in estimating positions. He has completed multimillion-dollar projects spanning the educational, medical, institutional and commercial markets.
Holly Rossman is the new bid coordinator for the preconstruction department. She will contact subcontractors for bids, distribute plans and specifications, assist with drawing reproduction, maintain bid logs and enter project data.
Bill Yearsley has become the first University of Colorado at Boulder Nicholas R. Petry Professor of Construction Engineering and Management. Yearsley is a 30-year veteran of the construction industry and co-founder of the Denver-based American Civil Constructors and a former CEO of Western Mobil.
The professorship is part of the $1-million endowment created by Petry and his wife, Nancy, to support the construction engineering and management program in CU-Boulder’s department of civil, environmental and architectural engineering.
Al Slattery joined GE Johnson Construction Co.’s Business Development and Marketing Team earlier this year after 11 years at McGraw-Hill Construction as publisher and director of business development. Slattery has served on the AIA Colorado Board of Directors, HBA AMC Board and is an active member of AGC/C, USGBC, ULI, NAIOP and the Downtown Denver Partnership.
Three new associates have joined MW Golden Constructors of Castle Rock.
Brian Hattel has joined as a project engineer. Hattel graduated from Colorado State University in December 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in construction management. His current assignments include the Remington Building and the Aurora Corporate Plaza.
Andy Iselin has joined as a project superintendent. Iselin has eight years in the construction industry. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts. His current assignments include UCD-Dravo Building Exterior Wash and Repair and the Byers Restroom Remodel.
Dave Morris has joined as a project superintendent. Morris has 33 years of construction experience. His current assignment includes the Aurora Corporate Tenant Improvement.
Two managers at Denver’s Palace Construction have earned LEED accreditation.
Chris Osgood, preconstruction manager, is pursuing LEED projects early in the design phase and efficiently developing them for certification as well as turnover operations. Currently, he is working with Palace’s LEED AP Group to transform the company’s main office into a LEED Existing Building-certified facility.
Ami France, project manager, is responsible for estimating and managing projects that include emergency services such as water losses and other insurance claim-related projects.
As a LEED-accredited professional, France will bring more green to the emergency services sector for Palace. Recently, France managed two large home insurance claims that included water damage, exterior deck and siding repairs with costs totaling over $175,000.
John Forgey has joined Murphy Co. as a project manager in the Quick Response Department.
Forgey served as a senior chief electronics technician in the U.S. Navy and retired after serving 22 years. Forgey’s experience includes more than eight years as a project manager in HVAC mechanical, plumbing, piping and the building controls industry. He is a current member of American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers.
Dan Spykstra recently accepted a position as the director of project development for Fort Collins-based Drahota Construction. Spykstra is a long-time Northern Colorado resident and brings a vast range of preconstruction and construction experience to Drahota.
His new position includes overseeing preconstruction services by coordinating projects from inception to construction. He will handle all budget and final estimating and oversee marketing efforts by working with Wendy Serour, Drahota’s marketing manager.
Trautman & Shreve of Denver has added four people to its staff.
Frank Montoya, project executive, brings more than 20 years of sheet-metal construction experience to the firm.
Bob Chavez, project manager, has 27 ears of construction experience and will estimate and manage projects throughout the Front Range.
Mike Harris, sheet metal estimator, joined the estimating department to focus on sheet-metal services.
Mike Swartz, sheet metal estimator, brings considerable understanding of the HVAC/sheet metal industry and more than 20 years of experience.
