Douglas L. Shaffer, PE, and
Jaymond W. Brasher, PE, have
joined the Carter & Burgess Denver transportation programs
unit. They come to Carter & Burgess from Entranco Inc.
in Denver.
Shaffer joins as vice president and will be promoting Carter
& Burgess' comprehensive transportation services throughout
the Rocky Mountain region. Brasher, a senior project manager,
will lead the Denver office's municipal transportation practice,
focusing on transportation planning, traffic engineering,
roadway design and construction services for Colorado cities
and counties.
Shaffer brings a broad background and knowledge of technical
and policy issues related to transportation programs in Colorado.
Shaffer was with the Colorado Department of Transportation
for 29 years, including the position of director of maintenance
and operations.
Brasher has 16 years of progressive project development and
transportation design experience for municipalities across
Colorado, CDOT, the Federal Highway Administration, Central
Federal Lands, and the Departments of Transportation for Nebraska
and Idaho.
Carter & Burgess has also added P.
Scott Cary, PE, Paul Fiore
and Anna Mauss, EIT, to the
firm's Denver aviation group.
Cary is a project engineer with more than nine years of airport
engineering experience, focused on airport facilities and
airfield civil engineering design. His background encompasses
design-build project management, civil design, resident engineering
and environmental program management.
Fiore is a senior designer with 11 years of experience involving
airport civil engineering design. His background includes
producing grading, drainage and geometric designs; preparing
engineering plans; processing raw survey data; creating and
producing plan and profile sheets, typical sections, quantity
calculations, engineering details, line-of-sight checks and
construction cost estimates.
Mauss has more than four years of civil engineering experience
involving retaining wall design; water, storm and sewer design;
underground storm water detention systems; utility studies;
drainage studies and due diligence studies.

Saunders Construction Inc. has announced that Mike
Wood, CFM, MSM, has joined the company as the manager
of project development for its health care services group.
In his new position, Wood will be responsible for further
expanding the company's contribution to the health care industry
and will be involved in business development, pre-construction
and project development activities. Wood's professional experience
includes facility management, construction project management
and real estate development in the health care and telecommunications
industries.

Rhoads Construction Inc. has announced three new hires.
Susan Gorman has been hired
as a marketing manager. She has been in the design/construction
industry for 14 years.
Derek Oliver, a recent graduate
of CSU's Construction Management Program, has been hired as
a project engineer.
Annette Parker, a master's
degree student in the CSU Construction Management program,
is working in the contract administration and marketing departments.

Kirk Askelson has joined Braaksma-Himmelman
Inc. as a project superintendent and safety officer. Askelson
has more than 15 years of experience in the industry. He will
be responsible for the Foothills Elementary School and NIST
Elevator Retrofit projects.

Rainbow Electric, an electrical contractor based in Longmont,
recently added Robert (Bobby) Marchetti
to its management team as vice president of business development.
Marchetti has more than 30 years of experience in the electrical
industry around the nation, the last 11 years based in Colorado.
At Rainbow, Marchetti will focus on business development activities.
He has experience in estimating and coordinating design-build
projects and a diverse knowledge base of the electrical industry.

Dennis J. Brookie, ASLA, has
joined Valley Crest Landscape Development's Denver office
as a business developer for Colorado. In his new position,
Brookie will be responsible for expanding existing client
services and developing new regional and national clients
and accounts for Valley Crest Landscape Development and Valley
Crest Landscape Maintenance. Brookie is a licensed landscape
architect and has more than 15 years of landscape construction
experience.

Washington Group International has announced the addition
of two people to its division of survey/right-of-way and one
to its environmental science division in Denver.
Bryan M. Clark, PLS, joins
as a survey project manager. With 22 years of experience as
a professional land surveyor, Clark is accomplished in areas
of right-of-way surveys, property surveys, aerial and field
topographic surveys. He received the 2002 Citizen Surveyor
Award from the Professional Land Surveyors of Colorado.
Shano Perez joins as a land
survey technician. A recent graduate from Westwood College
of Technology, Perez will assist surveyors in the field with
calculations, topographic mapping, layouts and other basic
duties. He is working towards receiving his professional registration.
Gary Grieve joins as GIS manager
of its environmental science division. Grieve has more than
20 years of experience in geographic information systems,
remote sensing, geophysical science, global positioning systems,
surveying and civil engineer design.

Stantec Consulting has announced that three of their employees
recently passed the Colorado professional engineering exam.
Monica Chapman, PE, is a project
engineer in Stantec's land development group. She is experienced
in all phases of project development, from coordination with
municipal agencies and design teams to ensuring the quality
completion of construction plans and reports.
Joe Smith, PE, is a project
engineer in Stantec's water resources group. He has experience
writing drainage reports, performing hydraulic and hydrologic
calculations, designing roadways, performing site grading,
along with creating exhibits and construction plans.
Kristin Tanabe, PE, is a design
engineer in Stantec's land development group. She has extensive
experience designing and coordinating a wide variety of projects
from commercial and residential developments to arterial roadways.

The Colorado Springs office of Farris Engineering Inc. has
announced the appointment of Malisa
Martinez as director of marketing.
Martinez has more than six years of experience working in
the construction industry with an emphasis on marketing.

Craig Watts, PE; Electrical
Engineer Toby Smith, PE; and
Mechanical Engineer Brian Larson,
PE, have been certified by the U.S. Green Building Council
as LEED™-accredited professionals. LEED - Leadership
in Energy and Environmental Design - is the U.S. Green Building
Council's rating system that provides a framework for assessing
building performance and meeting sustainability goals that
encompass all phases of design and construction.

Bob Thompson - founder, chairman
and senior consultant of CTL/Thompson Inc. - has been elected
president of ASFE, a not-for-profit trade association serving
geoprofessional, environmental and civil engineering firms.

Capstone Planning & Control Inc. has announced the appointment
of Steven P. Howard as its new
president. As president, Howard oversee its three divisions,
including construction management, enterprise project management,
and project management and integration services.
Howard joined Capstone as a director of the construction
management division and executive vice president in 1999.
He has more than 16 years of experience in providing management,
construction management and estimating services.

Conrad Grayson has joined
Nuszer Kopatz as a landscape architect. With more than seven
years of professional experience, Grayson has a broad range
of skills and experience from projects all across the world,
including master/site planning, recreational design and project
management.

Agency for Architecture has announced that Brant
Matthew Tate has completed the architectural registration
exam and has been licensed as a Colorado architect. Tate joined
Agency in 2002 and serves as a project architect in Denver.

OZ Architecture has announced the addition of eight staff
members.
Project Architect Jeff Dawson
comes to OZ from Carrier Johnson. Dawson is currently working
on the design of the Golden West Manor independent living
facility in Boulder.
Project Architect Rachel Lawrence,
AIA, is working on the Snowmass Village gateway and mixed-use
project. Lawrence comes to OZ from Anderson Mason Dale Architects
of Denver.
Project Manager Keith G. Conrad,
formerly with Klipp Colussy Jenks DuBois Architects, is working
on OZ's renovation and addition projects at Lockheed Martin.
Interior Designer Carissa Fershee
previously worked for Gray Design Group of Colorado. At OZ,
Fershee's projects include Sheraton's Mountain Vista mixed-use
project in Avon and the Sandestin Playground offices in Florida.
Interior Designer Marla Manning,
formerly of Gray Design Group, is working on the Colorado
State University Lory Student Center Food Court Maintenance
Project for OZ. Manning is NCIDQ certified.
Project Manager Sarah Sexton
comes to OZ from San Francisco. Sexton is currently working
as a project manager on the University of Colorado Atmospheric
Research and KeyBank projects for OZ's project delivery services
division.
Construction Manager Lori Lee
brings experience from several Colorado construction firms
to OZ's project delivery services division.
Mike Pedrick joined OZ as a
workstation administrator in the firm's Denver studio. Pedrick
was formerly with Semple Brown Design, PC.

At its annual Young Architects' Award Gala held April 11,
the Colorado chapter of the American Institute of Architects
recognized local designer Adam Ambro
with a Student Portfolio Award for a compilation of his work.
Ambro's portfolio was selected over 12 other entries and
included designs he completed while enrolled at the University
of Colorado at Denver's masters in architecture program; projects
he has worked on while employed at Humphries Poli Architects;
and paintings he has done during his free time.
Currently, Ambro is the project designer on 16 new high-end
brownstone, townhome and carriage house units being developed
by East West Partners in the Central Platte Valley.

Denver-based Robinson Brick Co. has announced the promotion
of Bob Jaster to chief executive
officer. Former CEO F. George Robinson,
Jr. remains as the company's chairman of the board.
Jaster joined Robinson Brick in 1995 as the director of manufacturing.
After a series of promotions, he was named president and chief
operating officer in December 2000, while the company appointed
Robinson chairman of the board and chief executive officer.

Englert Inc., a leading supplier of metal roofing and gutter
products, has announced the promotion of a new western regional
manager and the appointment of a new lead mechanic and manager
of design assistance and education for contractors in the
company's Denver office.
Ken McLauchlan has been promoted
from Denver branch manager to western regional manager responsible
for sales and customer service for 15 western states, including
Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana,
New Mexico North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas,
Utah, Washington and Wyoming. Before joining Englert, McLauchlan
was an architectural roofing contractor with B&M Roofing
in Boulder and with Colony Metal Inc. of Commerce City.
As an architectural sales representative, Jeffrey
T. Barnard will be responsible for developing relationships
and providing design assistance to design professionals in
the Mountain States region. Before joining Englert, Barnard
was an estimator and project manager for Southwestern Metal
Systems Inc., D&D Monarch Sheet Metal Inc. and Colony
Sheet Metal Inc. in Commerce City.
Joining Englert as regional service mechanic, Nathanial
Roston III is a veteran service mechanic with more
than 14 years of experience in manufacturing and production
in the construction products industry. Roston joins Englert
from Weather Guard Building Products in Denver where he served
as a manufacturing manager.
