Bill Hornaday, senior vice
president of construction for The Weitz
Co.'s Southwest Division based in Phoenix, has been
named president of The Weitz Co.'s Colorado Division.
Hornaday replaces Rick Poppe, who has been promoted to the
newly created corporate position of strategic growth officer
for The Weitz Co. nationally. Poppe will continue to make
his office in Colorado and maintain responsibility for key
accounts here.
Hornaday, joined the company as an intern in 1977 at its headquarters
in Des Moines.
While he has experience with nearly every type of commercial
project, his focus has been on retail, office, health care,
high-tech, residential, hospitality and municipal projects,
as well as retirement communities. He has been based in Phoenix
for 23 years.

Principal Mark C. Scott, PE,
has joined Systems Engineering Corp.
Scott has 25 years of experience designing mechanical systems
for buildings. He has expertise in municipal, educational,
commercial, criminal justice and health care facilities.
Scott is a past member of the local AIA committee on design-build,
a member of the University of Wyoming Architectural Engineering
advisory board and the University of Colorado ABET accreditation
committee. Before joining Systems Engineering Corp., he was
a principal at MKK Consulting Engineers.

H+L Architecture has announced
the addition of the following staff:
Kent Freed is both a registered
architect and a landscape architect, joining H+L with 20 years
of experience. He is currently working on the new Brighton
High School design and several elementary school projects.
Adam Clack adds to H+L's landscape
design group with seven years of experience. He is also working
on the new Brighton High School design and several elementary
school projects with Freed.
Phil Scott has 19 years of experience
in interior architecture and is working on design projects
within the technology/corporate/commercial segment.
Jennifer Ludlam recently moved
to Denver from Missouri and joins H+L with 10 years of experience,
primarily in health care and senior living design. She is
currently working on the Montrose Memorial Hospital project
in Montrose.
Loree Karr is the project administrator
and central contract coordinator for H+L's design team on
The Children's Hospital at Fitzsimons project in Aurora. She
has more than 20 years of experience in the A/E/C industry.
Nandini Kane comes to H+L with
eight years of experience in commercial and government facility
architecture. She is working on The Children's Hospital at
Fitzsimons project with H+L's health care segment.
Eric Drayson has worked part-time
at H+L over the last few months, creating 3D project models
and now takes on a full-time role during his last semester
of his master's of architecture degree at the University of
Colorado at Denver.
Brandt Shwayder is in his final
year of his master's of architecture degree from the University
of Colorado at Denver. He was hired for his graphic illustration,
computer modeling/rendering and Web site design abilities.

Robert Quinlan has joined Carter
& Burgess Inc. as a senior project manager in the
firm's Denver environmental planning group.
In his new role, Quinlan will manage environmental projects
for public sector clients, primarily state departments of
transportation. He also will be responsible for promoting
the firm's environmental planning expertise for highways and
roadways in Colorado and neighboring states. His expertise
is in managing transportation-related environmental assessments
and impact statements in compliance with the National Environmental
Policy Act.

Construction management and general contracting firm CFC
Construction has announced that Michael
Velarde has joined the firm as director of business
development.
Velarde is a native of Colorado and has five years of experience
with business development and marketing in the A/E/C industry.
His duties will include the management of CFC's marketing
and business development efforts.

Coover-Clark & Associates
PC has announced that project architect Elizabeth
Johnson has been certified by the U.S. Green Council
as a LEED-accredited professional.
LEED - Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design - is
the rating system utilized by the U.S. Green Building Council
for assessing a building's performance and sustainability
goals throughout design and construction.

Drahota Construction Co. has
announced the addition of Todd Parker
as chief estimator.
Parker will be responsible for estimating and preconstruction
services on design-build, design-assist and hard bid projects.
He has been in the construction business for 13 years in a
variety of capacities. Parker is LEED certified and a member
of the American Society of Professional Estimators.

Kristofer Johnson has joined Design Workshop Inc. of Vail.
Johnson's expertise lies in creating dynamic communities and
public spaces that employ innovative storm-water management
techniques, as well as revealing ecological processes through
design.

David Mashburn, RA, has joined M+O+A Architectural Partnership
as a project manager. With more than 12 years of experience,
Mashburn's focus has mainly been on municipal, recreation
and academic facilities. Before joining M+O+A, Mashburn was
a project manager on projects such as the Red Rocks Amphitheater
Visitor Center, Fraser Valley Elementary School and the project
architect for the Breckenridge Ice Facility.

Mason Wallick has joined management
consulting and engineering firm R.W.
Beck's Denver office as an analyst to assist with energy
economic analyses. He has four years of experience with technical
and economic modeling of power, oil and natural gas, mineral
and petroleum refining projects.
At R.W. Beck, Wallick will be involved with rate design and
unbundling studies; pro forma development and review; and
cost-of-service and competitive rate analyses for municipal
utilities, power plant developers and financial institutions.
Additionally, he will provide energy risk management support
by assisting in the development of strategies and controls
necessary to manage market, credit and operational risks in
the energy markets.

Tetra Tech RMC has announced
the addition of four key associates to its Colorado operations
and mountain division.
Rich Gorman, AICP, has joined
as the regional practice leader for planning and site design.
He has managed the design of master-planned communities and
business parks in several western states.
Pat Roman, PE, has joined Tetra
Tech as the regional practice leader and Denver office manager
for water/wastewater/infrastructure. Roman is an engineering
consultant with extensive experience in planning, design,
program and construction management for public works projects
with a strong background in water, wastewater, drainage and
construction. In addition, Roman has experience in division
startups and management, business development, marketing,
contract management, technical support, construction administration
and QA/QC programs.
Ken Perry, PLS, has joined the
firm as the regional practice leader for surveying and mapping.
He is licensed in six western states and has more than 24
years of experience. Perry's background includes aerial mapping,
power transmission lines, highways, right-of-way, residential
and commercial land development, resort development, public
works, telecommunications, 3-D laser scanning, as well as
traditional ALTA/ACSM land title surveys, design surveys,
topography and construction.
Mike Middleton, PE, has joined
Tetra Tech RMC as a senior manger in the Denver office for
water/wastewater/infrastructure. His technical background
is in water and wastewater engineering consulting, including
pump station and lift station design; water distribution and
wastewater collection systems analysis and design; water transmission
and wastewater force main design; water and wastewater master
planning; potable water storage facilities; and transient
pressure analysis and mitigation.

Loris and Associates has announced
the addition of several new staff members.
Jon Brundrett is a construction
management professional with 35 years of diversified heavy
and highway construction experience.
Hal Hamrick is a construction
manager with 24 years of experience in roadway, airport and
land development projects.
Anthony Clark is a civil engineering
designer with more than six years of computer-aided design
and drafting experience for municipalities, the Colorado Department
of Transportation, commercial and residential projects with
an emphasis on water resources and land development.
Also, Kimberly Cronin, a structural
engineer with Loris, recently received her professional engineer
license.

Newman Cavender & Doane, specializing in commercial architecture
and interior design, has announced that Amy Baxter, Courtney
Karsted and Saeng Inthavong have joined the firm as interior
designers. Also, Sharon Pursell has joined the firm as its
office manager/receptionist.

Donald L. (D.J.) Alm, Jr. recently joined the estimating
department of Rhoads Construction Inc. as a senior estimator.
Alm is a construction management graduate from the University
of Wyoming. He brings 15 years of construction experience
with extensive estimating and project management skills.

EDAW's Fort Collins office
has announced that Brad Smith
and David Hansen recently became
LEED certified. They join EDAW Principal Jana
McKenzie, who received her LEED certification
earlier this year.
Smith is a senior associate and registered landscape architect
with 14 years of project design, master planning and management
experience. He is currently the project manager for the Confluence
Park project in Colorado Springs and for EDAW's work on the
Mason Transportation Corridor in Fort Collins.
Hansen is a landscape architect with seven years of experience.
He is EDAW's project manager for several projects at Washington
University in St. Louis and at the University of Wyoming in
Laramie. Additionally, he has been part of the design team
for the Alberici Group's corporate headquarters project in
St. Louis, which is currently pursuing a platinum LEED
rating from the U.S. Green Building Council.
McKenzie has 18 years of experience. She is the leader of
EDAW's Green Communities planning and design work and represents
EDAW's membership in the U.S. Green Building Council.

Janine Reid, president of Janine Reid Group Inc. of Denver,
has received the Distinguished Service to Safety Award from
the National Safety Council. Reid is a leading authority on
managing crises and working with the news media. She has worked
with hundreds of companies throughout the United States and
Canada in developing proactive crisis plans. She coaches management
and field personnel during and after crisis situations and
is the author of three books.

Rick Grice, director of the
Office of Energy Management and Conservation,
has been appointed to the board of directors of the Colorado
Housing and Finance Authority by Gov. Bill Owens.
In addition to his role as director of the OEMC, Grice is
a member of the Governor's Pollution Prevention Advisory Board
and the board of the National Association of Energy Officials.
Before his current position, Grice was a principal for the
environmental engineering and air pollution control consulting
firm of Douglas, Richmond and Grice.
