Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper has announced that Mary
Buckley will serve as the city's new director of business
development and Peter Park has
been hired as the director of planning.
Buckley previously held economic development-related appointments
in three state governments - manager of the Economic Development
Division for former Texas Comptroller John Sharp; director
of planning for former Mississippi Gov. Ray Maybus; and special
assistant to the executive director of the Colorado Department
of Labor and Employment for former Colorado Gov. Dick Lamm.
Park has two decades of experience in planning, architecture
and urban design. Since 1995, he has served as Milwaukee's
city planning director. Previously, Park spent eight years
with the Milwaukee-based Planning and Design Institute Inc.,
where he served as an associate and vice president; two years
as an outreach specialist for Johnson Controls Institute for
Environmental Quality in Architecture, and two years as a
designer with Boston-based Stephen L. Faulk & Associates.

Philip H. Goedert, AIA, RNL Design's chairman of the board,
has retired. Earlier this year, RNL's leadership transitioned
into its third generation with H. Joshua Gould, AIA, being
named chief executive officer and Richard von Luhrte, FAIA,
as president.
Goedert became CEO and president in 1989 and had been a member
of RNL's board of directors since 1978. Holding every position
in the company, Goedert joined RNL in July 1967 as an intern
and has served as one of the firm's eight principals for more
than 25 years.

Orville Hinerman has been promoted to vice president at The
Weitz Co. in Colorado.
Hinerman has been a construction manager in the Colorado division
of The Weitz Co. since 2001. He joined the company as a project
engineer in 1985. Recent projects that Hinerman has worked
on include Denver Options, Quizno's Subs Corporate Headquarters,
DeVry University and the third floor addition at St. Anthony
North Hospital. He is a registered engineer-in-training in
Colorado.

Dr. Purushottam Dass, PE, has been hired by Stantec as the
manager of its water resources group.
Dass is a water resource engineer who has worked in both the
public and private sectors. He has broad experience in varying
kinds of projects involving surface water, ground water and
water quality. He is uniquely qualified in areas of Colorado
water rights, drainage, flood control and sedimentation engineering.

David White, senior vice president at Swinerton Builders,
has been named a LEED-accredited professional by the
U.S. Green Building Council. White, manager of Swinerton's
Denver division, joins senior estimator Greg Borst and 15
other Swinerton employees across the country with the certification.
More than 200 employees have taken "green" training
courses.

JG Johnson Architects has announced a promotion and the addition
of four new members to its staff.
Brad Bull, AIA, who has been with the firm for more than seven
years, was recently promoted to associate principal. A licensed
architect in Colorado, Bull will manage the firm's operations
and manpower.
Stacy Stout joins the firm as its marketing manager. Stout
has a degree in international business and previously worked
for a local marketing firm as a marketing strategist.
Eric McNeal joined the firm as an intern architect and is
a LEED 2.0-accredited professional. McNeal has more than four
years of experience in the architectural industry.
Matthew Bayless joins JGJA as an architectural intern with
three years of experience in the industry, specifically in
progressive multifamily projects.
Jody Castillo, a recently licensed architect, comes to JGJA
with more than 10 years of experience.

Nancy K. White, PE, has joined Denver's Gordon, Gumeson and
Associates as a senior electrical engineer. White is a registered
professional engineer with more than 15 years of experience
designing electrical systems for health care, laboratory,
educational and institutional facilities.

Meurer & Associates has announced the addition of two
new employees to the firm.
Sarah Levy has been hired as an engineering assistant. She
joins Meurer & Associates after having worked with the
U.S. Census Bureau in Washington D.C. as a mathematical statistician
performing data analysis and statistical programming.
Erin M. Bradley comes to Meurer & Associates as its new
marketing coordinator.
Bradley previously worked in the hotel and real estate industry,
doing advertising and promotional marketing.

Deborah Schindler has joined CLC Associates as director of
marketing. She will oversee the marketing and business development
activities of the firm's three offices in Denver, Salt Lake
City and Spokane, as well as the marketing activities of a
new Phoenix office scheduled to open in early 2004. Schindler
has more than 20 years of experience in marketing and business
development, specifically in the built environment. Her background
includes working for local, regional and national engineering
and architectural firms as well as a real estate development
company.

Jill S. Tietjen, PE, has joined management consulting and
engineering firm R.W. Beck's Denver office as a senior management
consultant. She has 27 years of experience in electric utility
and related planning processes and analyses, primarily in
the areas of generation, transmission and fuels. An experienced
expert witness, Tietjen focuses on electric utility industry
generation and transmission planning and policy, rate and
fuel issues.

Quality Electric Inc. has announced that Gary Fallico has
been promoted to senior project manager and the addition of
Carl Miller and industry veteran Ron Hollenbeck to its preconstruction
services department.
Fallico joined QEI in 1999 and has more than 34 years of experience
in the electrical contracting industry, including 12 years
as a self-employed electrical contractor and 25 years of project
management experience. He holds a Colorado journeyman electrician
license and a Colorado master electrician license.
Miller has nine years of experience in the electrical industry,
including six as an estimator. He holds a Kentucky journeyman
electrician license and has worked on projects up to $5 million.
During Hollenbeck's career in the electrical industry, he
has worked for 23 years as an estimator and 10 years as a
project manager. He has worked on projects up to $15 million.

Steven B. Grueber has been named vice president of architecture
at Merrick & Co. Grueber is a licensed architect with
more than 30 years of professional design experience. He has
been with Merrick for 15 years, serving as senior design architect
for all projects completed by the Denver office. As vice president
of architecture, Grueber will oversee all of Merrick's architectural
design efforts throughout the United States.
Brad Andersen has been promoted to vice president for Merrick
& Co.'s buildings and infrastructure operations. Andersen
is a licensed architect with more than 24 years of professional
design experience. During his 14 years at Merrick, Andersen
has served as senior project manager for Merrick's laboratory
and biocontainment design efforts.
As vice president for buildings and infrastructure operations,
Andersen is responsible for a staff of more than 85 design
professionals Aurora, Atlanta and Albuquerque.

Mark Rudiger, a lighting designer with The RMH Group, recently
passed his LEED TM accreditation examination and is now a
LEED-accredited professional. Rudiger's designs have long
focused on sustainability, frequently incorporating energy-efficient
lighting, photocell controls, occupancy sensors and daylighting.

Olsson Associates has added new employees to its technical
staff.
Clay Morris, an assistant civil engineer, has transferred
from the Olsson Associates office in Kansas City to the Denver
office. Morris has worked with OA for approximately three
years. His experience includes residential and commercial
site design.
Scott Martin comes to Olsson Associates with eight years of
experience. His experience includes preparation of construction
plans for roadways, structures, utilities and water resource
projects.
Joe Cathelyn, brings seven years of technical experience to
OA, including construction drawings and commercial and residential
site development plans. Cathelyn also has experience in completing
survey plats, topographic surveys and ALTA surveys.
Andy Zimmerman is currently a student at Colorado School of
Mines. Zimmerman is majoring in civil engineering. He is currently
working as a student intern on the civil engineering team.

Richard G. Weingardt, CEO and chairman of Richard Weingardt
Consultants Inc. of Denver, has been elected into the Colorado
segment of the Hall of Fame for Engineering, Science and Technology.
He was selected based on his professional achievements demonstrated
through his successful company, his efforts in publicly advocating
the importance of the engineering profession and his contributions
to the general welfare of society.
The announcement was made by Dr. I.S. Tuba, executive director
of the International Technology Institute, which acts as the
secretariat to HOFEST.
Weingardt was also selected to receive the Walter J. Zable
Medal, one of ITI's top awards for "Excellence in Technology."

Short Elliott Hendrickson Inc. has announced the addition
of two new staff members:
Robert (Bob) Jones, PE, is a project manager with extensive
experience in airport improvement projects for general aviation,
air carrier and cargo airports. His responsibilities include
overall management of engineering design and construction
projects. He is based in the SEH Westminster office.
George Walton, PE, is a senior engineer with 15 years of experience
in highway design, highway construction and environmental
documentation of transportation projects. He has managed and
delivered numerous preliminary engineering packages for urban
and rural roadway projects. Walton has conducted environmental
studies; developed context-sensitive highway design criteria
for roads through national parks; and managed designs for
large-scale design-build contracts. He is currently based
in SEH's Cheyenne office.
