Patty Yanker, construction
executive at Mortenson, has joined the board of directors
of the Hispanic Contractors of Colorado. In this role, Yanker
will assist with the overall direction of the organization
and recruit new members. She will also support HCC activities
through increased attendance and sponsorships and continue
to develop the organization's educational program, Grow Colorado,
which benefits the DBE/SBE/WBE construction community.

Kiewit Construction Co. has announce LEED accreditation for
three of its construction professionals based in Denver -
Preconstruction Services Manager Will
Hopkins, Business Manager Rick
Schweer and Project Engineer Michael
Bromley.
Hopkins is a 25-year veteran in the construction industry
and head of Kiewit's preconstruction services.
Schweer has been a business manager at Kiewit for more than
seven years.
Bromley is currently working as a project engineer on DU's
Chamber Center for Women.

Hyder Construction Inc. has announced the following promotions.
Jeff Haselhorst has been promoted
to general superintendent. In this new role, he will oversee
all field operations for Hyder. Haselhorst has been with the
firm since 1994.
Wally Goodnow has been promoted
to chief estimator. He will lead the estimating department
of Hyder with his more than 30 years of estimating experience.
Goodnow has been with Hyder for nine years.
Doug Thompson has been promoted
to project executive. In this position, he will be responsible
for managing large strategic projects for Hyder. Thompson
has been with the firm since 1994.
Scott Miller has been promoted
to project manager. He graduated with an architectural engineering
degree from the University of Colorado, then completed Hyder's
project engineering program during his four years with the
company.

Reid Tucker, PE, PTOE, of Bucher, Willis and Ratliff Corp.,
has joined the ranks of the 1,070 certified professional traffic
operations engineers in the United States. Reid has managed
traffic engineering projects such as the new Auraria parking
garage.

Mike Ballou has joined general contractor Edward Kraemer
& Sons Inc.'s western operations as its business development
manager. Ballou will lead marketing and client development
for the company's Arizona, Colorado, Nevada and Utah regions.

Thomas Fyffe, Patricia Tudor, Patrick
Nevin and Daniel Steele
have joined Rhoads Construction Inc.
Fyffe, a senior estimator in the Fort Collins office, has
13 years of experience.
Tudor, a project manager, has 24 years of experience in the
construction industry.
Nevin and Steele have been hired as project superintendents.
Nevin brings 30 years of experience to the firm.
Steele, a superintendent on site at Stapleton Town Green,
has 24 years of construction experience in school, casino,
office and condominium projects.

David Owen Tryba Architects has announced several additions
to the firm.
Christopher G. Nims, FAIA, has
joined as a principal. Nims brings a portfolio of commercial,
institutional and governmental work with more than 30 years
of design experience working for CRSS and Gensler.
Jeff Poorten, project architect,
has more than 15 years of experience in the design of civic
institutions and large-scale urban infill projects.
Cynthia Ottenbrite, project
designer, has an expansive portfolio of residential design,
commercial office and research facilities.
Leah Hanke, project designer,
coms to the firm with a background in civic restoration and
commercial office design.
Ki Woo Kim, project designer,
has substantial local urban design and international project
experience.

Carter & Burgess Inc. recently added four design-build
professionals to the firm's transportation program delivery
group.
Anthony Marcello, PE, is a senior
engineer with 20 years of experience in design and construction
of highways, transit and commercial development projects.
Matthew Kinsella, PE, is a design
engineer with eight years of experience in roadway design
and transportation planning.
Dennis Eden has 20 years of
experience in transportation and civil engineering.
Sara Flick, EIT, is a design
engineer with experience in roadway design and street improvement
projects.
Also, Pamela Bailey-Campbell
has joined as vice president of project development in the
firm's transportation programs division. Bailey-Campbell is
a nationally recognized leader in the development, financing,
implementation and management of transportation projects.

The Lawrence Group Architects has promoted Jeffrey
Stine and Rebecca Ruocco
to senior associate.
Stine's responsibilities include project management and supervising
design teams on commercial, residential and restaurant facilities.
Stine has more than nine years of architectural experience.
Ruocco's responsibilities include project management, client
relations and resource allocation. She is registered as a
professional architect in Colorado.

Michael Johnson with Cator, Ruma & Associates recently
passed his professional mechanical engineering exam. Johnson
joined the firm in 2001 and has been primarily involved in
the mechanical design of greenfield health care facilities
in the Front Range, including full-service hospitals and medical
office buildings.

Anthony Eden, PE, a URS Corp. project manager, has obtained
certification as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental
Design-accredited professional. Eden has experience in the
energy field from previous work at the Solar Energy Research
Institute - now the National Renewable Energy Laboratory -
and the U.S. Air Force Academy in solar energy applications
to buildings.

David Daniel has been selected
as the 2003 Young Architect of the Year by the Denver Chapter
of the American Institute of Architects. Daniel is a senior
design associate at David Owen Tryba Architects. His specialties
include civic and cultural buildings, urban redevelopment
and contemporary architecture.
Each year, AIADenver recognizes one architect whose contributions
- made during the first 10 years of their career - exemplify
outstanding built or unbuilt work, as well as projects, initiatives
and beginnings that warrant the attention of the profession
or the public. This professional must show exceptional leadership
in design, education and service to the profession.

Swanson Rink has announced the following promotions, new
hires and a licensing.

Craig L. Fuller, RCDD, joins
Swanson Rink as a senior technology designer. Fuller has more
than 15 years of experience in technology design.
Tony L. Mitchelhill, joins the
firm as an audio video designer. Mitchelhill has more than
20 years of experience, primarily in the television and radio
broadcast and audio engineering fields.
Mark A. Gipe joins Swanson Rink
as a mechanical engineer. Gipe is responsible for mechanical
design for several telecommunications site upgrade projects
for Qwest.
Michael Tamagni also joins the
mechanical department as a mechanical engineer. Tamagni is
assigned to the project team currently working on an R&D
facility for Gates' Power Fluid Division.
In other departments, Michael D. Breitenstein joins as a mechanical
CAD operator, Jessica A Brown as a project assistant, Melissa
A. Lucero as an accounting clerk
and Mandy L. Tryon as a network
technician.
Also, James S. Embury, telecommunications
designer, recently received his registered communication distribution
designer license.

Newman Cavender & Doane has announced several additions
to its staff.
Jeff Frahm, AIA, is a project
designer and project architect; Launa
Fujimoto is a marketing assistant; and John
Erickson is an architectural student intern.

Michael Unger, PE, has been
promoted to office leader for Stantec's Denver office.
Unger has been with Stantec for 10 years and currently serves
as the profit center managing leader for Stantec's local land
development group. He will oversee daily operations for the
65-person office along with continuing his duties as PCML.

Wenk Associates Inc. has broadened the base of ownership
in the firm and recognized the accomplishments of senior leaders
and managers.
Jane Kulik, ASLA, has been appointed
a partner with an equity ownership position in the firm. Kulik
joined Wenk Associates in 1998, became a vice president in
1999 and was appointed principal in 2001. Trained as a landscape
architect and sociologist, with an extensive career in applied
research, Kulik directs many high-profile park, open lands,
greenways and trails master plans.
Paul Thomas has been named vice
president. In his 13 years of experience as a landscape architect,
he has been a project manager and designer on natural area
restoration, stream channel stabilization, park design, athletic
facility design, environmental mitigation, and trails and
recreation planning and design. Thomas joined Wenk Associates
in 1990 and has been a senior associate since 1999.
Crissy Roe has been promoted
to project landscape architect. Since joining the firm in
2001, Roe has gained experience in site analysis and planning
on a variety of the firm's projects. These have included mapping
and analysis for the development of Denver Parks and Recreation's
Game Plan; site planning and stormwater management design
for a new laboratory building at the National Renewable Energy
Laboratory; and design of various parks and open spaces for
the Lowry Redevelopment in Denver.

Hall-Irwin Corp. has announced that two key positions have
been filled.
Dave Shoup has joined Hall-Irwin
as the director of development services. Currently, Shoup's
primary focus will be the development of Centennial Crossing,
Hall-Irwin's master-planned community in Milliken. His responsibilities
include managing development projects, including procurement,
entitlement, development, platting, site planning and design.
Mark Kiefer has joined Hall-Irwin
as the building division manager. Current projects include
Hall-Irwin's new corporate headquarters in Milliken and other
commercial buildings in Centennial Crossing and the surrounding
areas. Kiefer has more than 25 years of construction experience.

Bryan Schmidt has been promoted to principal at Semple Brown
Design PC. Schmidt joined the firm as an associate in 1996
and has been an intricate part of the firm's growth and accomplishments
for the past eight years. As principal he will taking on greater
overall responsibility for project design, management and
client satisfaction.

Ronald Marschel, PE, has joined
CTL/Thompson as a project manager. He assists in the development
of construction management programs and growing the business.
Marschel has extensive experience in quality control review
of transportation plans, and construction management of transportation
and infrastructure projects.

G.E. Johnson has added three people to its staff.
Mark Haynes is currently a project
manager for the Porter Adventist Hospital project. He has
16 years of experience, with past projects including Exempla
Lafayette, a $133 million hospital project; Good Samaritan
Hospital in Kearney, Neb.; pre-construction services for Hewlett
Packard in Fort Collins; and Amgen in Longmont.
Dan Seib was the pre-construction
manager and project manager for the Weatherhead School of
Management in Cleveland, Ohio, and the Princeton University
Science Library in Princeton, N.J. Seib is now the project
manager for the New Life Church project.
Karen Halliday is the new marketing
coordinator in the business development and marketing department,
organizing public relations, special events and advertising.
Halliday comes to G.E. Johnson with several years of marketing
and design experience in the flooring industry.

M+O+A Architectural Partnership has announced a promotion
and the addition of three new professionals.
Jodi Ross, SDA, has been promoted
to business development manager. Ross started with M+O+A in
2000 and has worked as office administrator and business development
coordinator.
Ari Irfano, designer, has more
than eight years of experience with a focus on recreational,
municipal and academic projects. He is currently working on
the design of the new Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Elderly Village
project in Eagle Butte, S.D.
Susan Pratt, RA, project architect,
has more than 11 years of experience with a variety of project
types, including academic, hospitality, recreational and library
facilities. Pratt is currently working on the Science Canyon
Pre-K-12 School for Academy School District 20 in Colorado
Springs.
Tadd Irvin has more than seven
years of experience in a variety of project types including
K-12, government, and university facilities. He is currently
working on the new Denver Seminary Campus project.

Chris Marsh and Rich
Kunze have joined Powers Products Co.
As a bid coordinator, Marsh will be involved in pre-bid communication
with general contractors as well as internal coordination
among the various estimators at Powers.
As a project coordinator on Powers' door, frame and hardware
team, Kunze will be involved in detailing projects, managing
submittals and ensuring the timely delivery and installation
of products.
