Denver Architect Named CSI's Southwest Director/ACEC Appoints HDR Executive to Leadership Position/OZ Expands Staff by Seven

Ann Baker, an architect and specifier with RNL Design, will take office on July 1 as the southwest regional director of the Construction Specifications Institute.

Ann Baker, RA, CSI, CCS, CCCA, SCIP, has been elected as the southwest regional director for the Construction Specifications Institute. An architect and specifier with RNL Design in Denver, she will take office on July 1. As one of 10 new regional directors, she will join CSI's 29-member board of directors.

Eight employees of Gerald H. Phipps Inc. recently received American Society for Healthcare Engineering certification. They are Greg Collier, Bruce Schneider, Mike Liffick, Walt Strecker, Ernie Romero, Mike Evango, Bill Breaker and Duane Branson.

They join eight other Gerald H. Phipps employees who are currently ASHE-certified, including Bob Bustos, Bruce Gilchrist, Chris Pedersen, Cris Goldy, Greg Armstrong, Jerry Willis, Scott Bustos, Roger Treichler, Ted Laszlo and Tim Feldmann.

Steve Hamline, president of J.E. Dunn Construction Rocky Mountain Region, recently served on the jury panel for the 2004 U.S. General Services Administration's Design and Construction Excellence Awards.

Hamline was one of 13 design and construction peers selected to evaluate award submittals and was the only contractor to evaluate both design and construction entries.

John Day has joined Drexel, Barrell & Co.'s Colorado Springs office.

Day, who has more than 20 years of experience in all aspects of land surveying with both conventional and GPS equipment, is a registered professional land surveyor in Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and New York.

David Rux has joined Nolte's Denver survey group as a senior surveyor, where he will coordinate and schedule the fieldwork activities of the survey department field crews and provide project management tasks, office calculations for construction staking, and project field/office coordination duties.

Wagner Equipment Co. has announced a recent reorganization, including some retirements, restructuring and promotions.

Retirements include Gary Reber, vice president/machine sales; Dick Reuss, vice president of finance/CFO, and Dick Cahal, vice president/parts and service, who will retire on Dec. 31. Bob Barrows, vice president/operations, will semi-retire.

Mike Quirk has been named to a new position, vice president/earthmoving division. Brad Cofield, formerly manager of Wagner Rents, was appointed director of the rental division position, another newly created position.

Filling the vacated vice president of finance/CFO position is Cody Eldridge.

Kurt Mahnken, PE, principal and senior vice president of CLC Associates, has been appointed to the Design Professionals Risk Control Group's national board of directors.

The American Council of Engineering Companies has named Rod Hoffman, PE, as senior vice chair on its executive committee, effective immediately. He will serve in this role until his term on the executive committee expires in May 2006.

Hoffman is senior vice president in charge of strategic planning for HDR.

Martin/Martin Inc. Consulting Engineers recently promoted the following individuals in its civil and structural divisions: Dwight Gilbert and Joshua Laipply, senior professional engineers; Robert Bowman and Daniel Mullins, professional engineers; Peter Rice and Britton Evans, project engineers; Josiah Offord, engineer II, Christine Hammack, designer; Dustin Behm, project CAD II operator; and David Lovato, PE, associate.

Michael Walker, PE, has been promoted to engineering manager of Drexel, Barrell & Co.'s regional office in Greeley. He will direct the office's engineering operations, overseeing a staff of civil engineers and technical professionals.

The Colorado Department of Transportation has selected Pamela Hutton as the new regional transportation director for the Denver metro area.

James Riney has been named president of Guaranteed Electrical Contracting of Denver.

Charles Spickert and Gary Taylor have joined Grubb & Ellis Co. as a real estate professional and senior vice president, respectively.

Alex Kummant has been appointed executive vice president and chief marketing officer of Komatsu America Corp., where he will have broad responsibility for the mining and utility business segments, as well as the marketing functions of the construction equipment business.

Frank Cannon, AICP, has been named principal of Civitas Inc. Since joining the firm in 2000, he has led some of its most complex Denver projects, including the redevelopment planning for Children's Hospital and Gates Rubber Co., as well as the development planning and rezoning for Denver Union Station and Belleview Station's transit-oriented development.

Katrina Plank has appointed a development partner for Alliance Residential Co.'s Denver market, where her responsibilities will include the selection and acquisition of multifamily sites; managing the planning and development process; and acquiring existing communities for rehabilitation.

Jamie Rodriguez has joined Alliance Construction Solutions LLC as a senior project manager.

Rodriguez is currently managing such projects as the Hampton Inn & Suites in Denver, Boulder County Open Space and Transportation Complex in Longmont and the preconstruction phase for a design-build renovation project for the Nederland Community Center in Nederland.

EDAW Inc.'s Colorado offices have announced the promotion of staff members Nancy Locke, David Amalong and Keary Hallack to senior associates; and Eric Lennox, Theodore Hoerr, Colin Vandergaw and David Hansen as associates.

Jody Wright has been named construction practice leader and executive vice president for the Denver office of Willis, a global risk management and insurance intermediary. Before joining the firm he was a partner at The Lockton Companies of Colorado Inc.

Arthur Hipp has been awarded the Excellence in Professional Journalism award by the American Congress of Surveying and Mapping and the National Society of Professional Surveyors.

Hipp is a professional surveyor who has been the editor of Side Shots, a professional surveying publication, since 1976.

Jody Hughey, MSCE, PE, has joined Drexel, Barrell & Co. as a project manager in its Boulder office. Hughey specializes in water resource engineering with an emphasis on hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and reports.

Bob Fling has been named vice president of construction for Centura Health.

Fling has served as corporate director of construction since 2001, where he was responsible for overseeing the planning, design and construction elements of every Centura construction project.

Rex Wiederspahn, president of Quality Electric Inc. in Thornton, has been reappointed as a member of the Westminster Planning Commission

Travis Martinez has joined Castle Rock's White Construction Group as vice president of business development.

OZ Architecture has announced the addition of seven staff members. They are Douglas Sault, project architect; Chris Russell, architectural intern; Liz Rane, controller; Margaret Selzer, interior designer; Jillian Crandall, marketing coordinator; Scott Hicks, accounting manager; and Aranka Herringer, project accountant.
