Klipp Principal Earns National Honor/Swinerton
Builders Adds Staff/Aardex Nabs Internationally Renowned Architect
Citing his efforts to help his
fellow architects further their education and careers, the
National Council of Architectural Registration Boards recognized
Denver architect Cornelius "Kip" DuBois, a principal
at klipp, with its President's Medal for Distinguished Service
at the association's annual conference in Florida.
Cornelius "Kin" DuBois,
AIA, a principal of klipp
in Denver, was honored this summer with the National Council
of Architectural Registration Boards' President's Medal for
Distinguished Service during the organization's 86th annual
conference in Miami Beach, Fla.
DuBois has worked to assist broadly experienced architects
who lack accredited degrees but desire to become NCARB-certified.
Over the last two years, he has chaired the Broadly Experienced
Architects Committee and the BEA Interview Committee, leading
NCARB's effort in developing parallel processes that help
these architects achieve their goals.
Five other klipp professionals have been promoted to associate
- Jason Finnegan, David Jones, Timothy McKay, Christopher
Skulley and Laura Yanoviak.
Swinerton Builders added several
new staff members to its team -Newt
Klusmire, senior estimator; Lew McCarthy, senior preconstruction
engineer; Sandy Rotunda, preconstruction manager; and Rebecca
Terrazas, project manager in the interiors department.
Andrew Flynn, PE, was appointed
the new Denver area manager of Kleinfelder
Inc.
Flynn joined the firm as an environmental group leader last
September. Under his leadership, the Denver environmental
department has grown from two to seven professionals.
Sarah Ladenburger and Jamie
Eichenberger joined Richard
P. Arber Associates in Lakewood.
Ladenburger is working on the Joint Water Purification Project
for the Arapahoe County Water and Wastewater Authority and
the Cottonwood Water and Sanitation District - Colorado's
first indirect potable reuse project.
Eichenberger is working on the expansion of the Lone Tree
Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant for the Arapahoe County Water
and Wastewater Authority.
R. W. Beck Inc. named new
directors in its Denver office - Jay
Lindgren, PhD.; Mike O'Dell, PE; and Jeff Schulz, PCE.
Lindgren serves as the firm's head quantitative specialist
for the Energy Markets Consulting practice. O'Dell has experience
in operations and maintenance services, generation design
and independent engineering reviews for clients in the power
industry. Schulz heads the water and waste resources practice
in Colorado.
Craig Burger, PE, joined CTL/Thompson
as project engineer, coordinating field investigations, overseeing
laboratory testing, analyzing results and preparing reports
while Thomas Finley joined the firm as a senior geologist
in the Fort Collins office.
Also, Tim Mitchell, PE, joined
the consulting firm's Colorado Springs regional office as
a project engineer, coordinating field investigations, overseeing
laboratory testing, analyzing results and preparing reports.
Senior architect Joseph Ginther
was named as an associate at DTJ Design
Inc. in Boulder.
Ginther, who joined the firm in 2000, has more than 20 years
of experience in the architectural profession and expertise
in a wide range of project types.
Mark Alexander joined M.A.
Mortenson Co.'s development group, Mortenson Development
Inc., as a senior project manager, assisting corporate clients
as they pursue real estate and facility requirements and facilitating
design-build, build-to-suit, lease back and turnkey development
projects.
Sharon Williams joined Carter
& Burgess as a senior project manager for the
Denver public works office.
Williams, who served as drinking water engineer with the
Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, has
seven years of experience in drinking water treatment, water
resources and regulations.
Ron Gibson, PE, Chris Fries
and >Zdenko Novkovic joined
>Kirkham Michael's Colorado
operations.
Gibson is based in the firm's Colorado Springs office, leading
its transportation initiatives throughout the state. Fries
is a project manager and lead CAD designer with the land development
department. Novkovic also joined the land development department,
where he is working on the Banning Lewis Ranch project.
M+O+A Architectural Partnership
Principal Gregory Markling,
FCSI, AIA, CCA, CCCS, LEED-AP, will co-lead the national Construction
Specification Institute's training program on Oct. 12-14 in
San Francisco.
Also, Dawnyel Martinez-Hawk joined
the firm as an office administrator, responsible for administrative
support to staff in all aspects of operations.
Terry Killingsworth, PE, was
promoted to facility division manager for URS
Corp.'s Denver office, overseeing the operations of
the aviation, architecture/facilities, energy management,
community development/infrastructure, information technology
and construction management service areas.
Ginny Schnell joined Shaffer-Baucom
Engineering & Consulting as a designer with the
company's CAD department. Her experience includes the design
of HVAC and other mechanical systems.
Michael Clark, CSP, ARM, joined
the Olson & Olson Division of Compass
Insurance Agency Inc. as a senior loss control consultant,
responsible for safety and environmental issues for clients,
as well as training and assisting with auditing specific projects
and jobsites.
RNL Design made the following
new hires and promotions - Arley Rinehart, senior designer;
Chris Meier, project architect; Annie Hopper, interior designer;
Lewis Stackpole and Robert Strom, senior project managers;
and Lance Vigil, senior urban design planner.
Jim Leggitt, FAIA - instrumental
in developing the firm's international work - was promoted
to associate principal.
And Jennifer Ranville and Aaron Kelly both obtained their
Colorado architecture licenses and were promoted to project
architects..
Greg Carender joined Quality
Electric in Thornton as the director of business development
while Jason McAnarney joined
the company as a project manager.
Robert Moore, PE, and
Mark Anderson, PE, joined the Boulder
office of Drexel, Barrell & Co. - Moore as a senior
project manager with the transportation engineering team,
and Anderson as a project manager assigned to the land development
department.
Tim Hubka was named repair
division manager for Englewood-based roofing and waterproofing
contractor WeatherSure Systems Inc.
Sunnie Fanelli joined the Denver
office of Kumar & Associates Inc.
as business development coordinator.
The civil department at S.A.
Miro Inc. added two new associates - Donald
Smith, PE, and Robert Palmer,
PE. Also, Jay Orfield received his professional engineers
license.
Lisa Schwien, a design engineer
with Meurer & Associates Inc. in
Lakewood, recently became a Colorado professional engineer.
Schwien is a graduate of the Colorado School of Mines in
Golden and has been with the firm since September 1999.
Ken Tisdale joined Rocky
Mountain Telecom & Data Inc. as sales manager.
Brian Robertson II joined the
Fort Collins office of Beaudin Ganze
Consulting Engineers Inc. as an electrical project
manager.
Michael Reed, an electrical
project manager in the firm's Denver office, passed the Colorado
professional engineers exam.
Jeff Mapp, AIA, joined J.E.
Dunn Construction Co. as quality assurance manager.
His responsibilities include participation in design reviews
and onsite quality assurance inspections to help mitigate
risk for owners, developers and designers.
Internationally known architect Binh
Vinh, AIA, NCARB, was named as principal and vice president
of design for Aardex Corp.
in Denver.
As principal designer for Aardex - a full-service developer,
construction manager and property services firm - Vinh's first
project will be a highly efficient and environmentally compatible
office building to be built in the Denver West Office Park.
Also, Steven Grund joined the
company as chief marketing officer.
