RNL Expands Denver Office/Amaya Named HCC President Elect/Harris Inducted into Engineering Academy

Jose Amaya, a senior project manager at J.E. Dunn Construction, was appointed president-elect of the Hispanic Contractors of Colorado.

J.E. Dunn Construction Senior Project Manager Jose Arnaldo Amaya, LEED AP, was appointed president elect to the board of directors for the Hispanic Contractors of Colorado.


RNL Design has announced several new additions to its Denver office - Jess Alexander and Linda Johnson, landscape architects; Tom Geiser, AIA, senior project manager; Margit Gutmair, specification writer; Hill Guan, urban designer; Jessica Haas, marketing coordinator; Jason Jacobowski and Sarag Rege, architectural intern; Jeff Lakey, senior landscape architect; Faroozan Manoochehri, project coordinator; and Mark Raeburn, project designer.


Jim Harris, PE, PhD, was formally inducted this fall as a member of The National Academy of Engineering during a ceremony at the Academy of Sciences Building in Washington, D.C.

Harris owns and operates J. R. Harris & Co. Structural Engineers in Denver.


Sarah Ladenburger and Jamie Eichenberger joined Richard P. Arber Associates in Lakewood.

Ladenburger is working on the Joint Water Purification Project for the Arapahoe County Water and Wastewater Authority and the Cottonwood Water and Sanitation District - Colorado's first indirect potable reuse project.

Eichenberger is working on the expansion of the Lone Tree Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant for the Arapahoe County Water and Wastewater Authority.


Gary Dominguez, who has more than 25 years of experience in the construction industry, recently joined the business development department at Pinkard Construction.


Lance Henkel was named senior landscape architect at Denver's studioINSITE, where he will oversee the implementation of the firm's work.


Mark Gray, PE, has joined the Denver office of Shannon & Wilson. Gray was the geotechnical engineer for some of the area's tallest buildings, including the Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center; one of the largest excavations at Colorado Mills Shopping Center; and one of the state's deepest excavations in recent years, Colowyo Mine.


Aardex Corp. hired Randy Swearingen as director of office development. Swearingen, who has 19 years of commercial office development experience, will primarily represent Aardex's Signature Centre, a $40 million, 185,000-sq-ft class A office space to be built in Denver West.


CTL/Thompson has announced some new appointments and promotions - Bill Hoffman, PE, COO; and Jeffrey Groom, PE, managing principal of Denver operations.
Bill Houlette, PE, was promoted to fill the Colorado Springs office manager vacancy created by Hoffman's promotion. Damon Thomas, PE, was promoted from project manager in the pavement group to associate and division manager of CTL/Thompson Materials Engineers.


Matthew Wardlow, PE, was also promoted - from environmental engineer to environmental services division manager.


Lee Keatinge joined URS Corp. in Denver as an historic preservation consultant, where her initial task will involve providing assistance to Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.


James Bowley joined Pacific Western Technologies Ltd. in Lakewood as senior vice president for business development. Bowley is a senior manager and a chemical engineer with more than 34 years of experience in business development and project/program management in engineering consulting and environmental construction.


Loris and Associates Inc. added two engineers to its existing structural design team- Kirk Wolf and Ryan Barth, PE. Both are supporting the firm's multifamily and university housing projects.


Shelly Albrecht was promoted to operations manager at Ponderosa Construction Inc. in Denver. Her duties include overseeing daily office operations, finances and information technology issues.


John Ewy, PE, water resources department manager for Drexel, Barrell & Co., passed the Certified Floodplain Manager exam administered by the Association of State Floodplain Managers.


Larry Reynolds recently joined JVA Inc. in Boulder as a senior project manager in the engineering consulting firm's structural department. Reynolds will focus primarily on historic preservation projects.


Dave Singleton and Sean Leggett were promoted at Nunn Construction Inc. in Colorado Springs. Singleton was named vice president; Leggett was promoted to chief financial officer.


Chris Knight joined Hyder Construction as a project manager. Before joining the Denver company, Knight worked for six years at Pepper Construction in Chicago.


Dan Armfelt was named to the newly created position of quality manager at Westminster-based Syncroness Inc., a firm that specializes in strategic outsourced engineering for product design and development.


Charles Steinman recently joined the Denver branch of MKK Consulting Engineers Inc. as a senior electrical engineer and project manager. Steinman returned to MKK after spending five years with the city of Denver's building department, where he conducted plan reviews and assisted contractors with the construction permitting process.


Kevin Koernig of Littleton will succeed founding principal Josh Comfort as principal-in-charge of the Lawrence Group Architects of Denver. Comfort will continue to be involved with the firm when he assumes his new role as an independent development consultant early next year.


Mike Curtis; who has 30 years of experience in utilities and right-of-way management with transportation departments in Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada and Idaho; has joined the Denver office of Carter & Burgess. He will lead a group specializing in subsurface utility engineering and related right-of-way services.


Bob Donato was promoted to project manager at Mendel and Co. Construction. Donato, who has more than 20 years of commercial construction experience, will work primarily in the retail sector.


James Godwin has been named vice president of operations for Vision Land Consultants Inc. Before joining Vision Land, Godwin was vice president of engineering and planning at Forest City Stapleton.

Also, Doug Richter, PE, was promoted to senior project manager and Shawn Merz was promoted to senior project engineer. New team members include Jim Audette Sr.; David Le; Becky Watt; Alicia Rigli, PE; and Jon Honda, project engineers.


Brian Hogan has joined Bryan Construction as a project manager and estimator with the company's commercial construction group. Hogan, who has more than six years of construction experience, worked at Nunn Construction Co. before joining Bryan.


The Denver office of Gensler Architecture Design & Planning Worldwide announced the addition of three staff members - John Gaudreau, integrated design director and Studio 585 leader; and Leah Scolere and Amy Mattingly, interior designers.


Nicole Nathan, AIA, was promoted to senior designer at JG Johnson Architects PC in Denver.

Additionally, four new staff members joined the firm - Jennifer Tierney, business manager; and Kari Mann, Joel Harries and John Lushbough, intern architects.


Patty McManus, president of Olsson Associates, was named to Fortune Small Business magazine's and Winning Workplaces' Best Bosses list for 2005.
