Flatiron Hires New Regional Manager/Alliance Construction Appoints New President/RMMI Announces 2009 Board of Directors
Terry Ostrom has accepted the position of district manager for Flatiron’s Intermountain Region and will oversee operations in Colorado and Wyoming, based in the firm’s Longmont office.
Ostrom has 23 years of construction industry experience, including 12 years with Flatiron. In 1985 he joined the company to work on a series of projects along Interstate 70’s Glenwood Canyon corridor. Following the success of those projects, he helped start Flatiron’s Southern California division. He later returned to Colorado to start his own company, BTE Concrete in Glenwood Springs, before rejoining Flatiron this year.
Alliance Construction Solutions recently promoted W.H. “Bill” Joyner to president of Alliance Construction Solutions of Colorado, Alliance Construction Solutions of Wyoming and Alliance Design/Build Solutions. Joyner has more than 30 years of experience in the commercial construction industry.
Brian F. Weinmaster has been appointed to executive vice president. Weinmaster has been with Alliance for 14 years. He has experience in estimating, operations and business development. According to Alliance CEO Clayton Schwerin, the promotions are the first step in a thoughtfully conceived and executed leadership succession plan.
Schwerin will remain at Alliance through 2009 and continue to serve as chief executive officer.
The Weitz Co. recently expanded its Quality Assurance Program with the promotion of John Cochran, who will serve as director of the company’s structured quality program, leveraging his more than 30 years of experience in the field.
In his new role, he will maximize the quality of client service and eliminate wasteful activities that lower productivity and increase production costs. Cochran has led construction on many of Weitz’s legacy projects, including the RE/MAX International Headquarters; University of Denver Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management Building; and National Jewish Health’s Molly Blank Conference Center.
Blake Williams has joined Valley Crest Landscape Development of Parker as its business development manager. Williams brings more than 22 years of diversified industry experience to the Valley Crest team.
Kyle Lundy, vice president of business development at McWhinney, has earned the designation of Certified Commercial Investment Member from the CCIM Institute, an industry affiliate of the National Board of Realtors. Only 6% of the estimated 150,000 commercial real estate practitioners nationwide hold the CCIM designation.
Brian D. Frantz has recently been appointed chief financial officer at Honnen Equipment Co. Frantz will oversee all finance and accounting functions for all branches of Honnen Equipment Co. in Colorado and Wyoming.
Warren Neubauer has joined the estimating/preconstruction department at Murphy Co. Neubauer’s experience includes 29 years in the mechanical construction industry with 14 years as a trade plumber, four years as a trade electrician and nine years as a small plumbing business owner. He is a standing board member of the ASPE, along with serving as chairman on the ASPE Education Committee.
Denver-based Hyder Construction recently increased its number of LEED-AP professionals.
Seven of its employees have passed the LEED accreditation exam, including Tom Pirog, vice president; Wally Goodnow, chief estimator; Mike Battiato, estimator; Rich Snyder, project manager; Matt Huelskamp, assistant project manager; Zack Tupper, project engineer; and James Dwyer, project engineer.
Hyder currently has 12 LEED-accredited employees.
The Rocky Mountain Masonry Institute announced its 2009 board of directors. Mark Stutz of Robinson Brick and Tom Murray of Lakewood Brick represent the brick producers, Pem Eberlein of A.P. Eberlein and Jim Serowski of JVS Masonry represent the masonry contractors, Jay Retzko of Boral Best Block and Erik Absalon of Basalite represent the block producers, David Minor of US Mix and Gary Feiner of TXI represent the sponsoring associates, Jody Funk of CEMEX represents the contributing associates, and Mike Schuller of Atkinson-Noland and Associates is an ex-officio board member.
Feiner will serve as 2009 president, Absalon as past president, Serowski as president-elect 2010, and Murray of Lakewood Brick as secretary/treasurer.
Roche Constructors Inc., headquartered in Greeley, now has seven LEED-accredited professionals throughout its Colorado and Arizona regions: Greg Lockwood, senior project manager in the Westminster office; Joey Hardy, project manager in the Greeley office; Sean Sanchez, assistant project manager in the Westminster office; Chris Bowers, project estimator in the Greeley office; Dawn Mulholland, project estimator in the Greeley office; David Chansilp, project engineer in Gilbert, Ariz.; and Shawn Dekker, project engineer in Glendale, Ariz.
The Audio Engineering Society has the society’s Fellowship Award to awarded K2 Audio Senior Consultant Ray Rayburn. The award recognizes Rayburn’s contributions to the art and science of sound system design, digital signal processing and routing and electromagnetic compatibility.
He is currently the chairman of the AES Standards Subcommittee on Interconnections, and the working group on Audio Connectors and has contributed two chapters to the Handbook for Sound Engineers, 4th edition.
Paul Hindman of the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District was recently selected as the 2008 Jane Silverstein Ries Foundation’s award winner.
The Jane Silverstein Ries Foundation is the charitable arm of the American Society of Landscape Architects Colorado Chapter. The foundation honors pioneer landscape architect Jane Silverstein Ries, FASLA, by promoting the quality of the built environment and the conservation and stewardship of the natural environment.
