The new General Motors Parts Distribution Warehouse, being built at
E-470 and I-70, will incorporate approximately 405,000 sq ft, one of the
largest buildings under one roof in Aurora. This $14 million project includes
20,000 sq ft of office, 400 ln ft of interior rail service, a 150,000
gal. water storage tank for fire protection and almost 20,000 cu yd of
concrete. The new facility, which will be fully racked, will handle automotive
replacement part shipments to more than 225 GM dealerships in approximately
12 states and will hold up to 55,000 parts for automobiles made by GM.
The structure is composed of site-cast Thermomass insulated tilt-up walls,
6-in and 8-in slab on grade and a white PVC roof system. The facility
is slated for completion in October 2003.
